My half gear is causing me problems in a 07 SCANIA with a GRS905 Gearbox. Have fully checked out actuator and indent balls. AlI functioning fine. When have a gear and then change half gear it ends up in no gear. I can conclude all other gears function fine including main high low.Think it's interior problem now. What I really need is full parts or assembly manual, something to let me know what's inside before I remove rear housing. Scania no real help so far as regards info I need. Can you help? My only tractor unit and under awful pressure now. I do all maintenance myself.

SOURCE: speedo plug gear has broken off into gearbox

well you can but it is a bit more difficult than that as you will need allignment tool to replace and also the might be excess tension and you might need a pulling tool also to remove. it is very unusual that the mechanism drops into the gearbox though? well without effecting the performance of gearbox such as whines and creaks?

In 2008 first 4th gear and later 2nd and 4th gears kept jumping out. I was told that all the bearings and other components inside the gearbox were worn out so Ihad them overhaul the gearbox. A few months...

a gear box place should know more than me but this can also be caused bye a little ball bearing and spring .... these 2 things push on the selecter shafts and fit in to a groove that holds the shaft in the right spot .. that is what u feel when u change gear and it stays in position ....... the spring - springs can looz tention .. brake or the ball can wear or the groov it sits in to can do the same making it not hold in position ... 2nd and 4th are prob on the same shaft and this problem useully happens under load or taking off quick ........ i think they call them retainer springs and ball

Why does my van kick when i put it in reverse?

Hi, if you have a manual gearbox then the problem could be any of the following:
1. gearbox oil could be low causing the gears to bite to hard.
2. clutch could be low and need replacing.
3. gearbox or engine mounts could be worn causing the engine or box to **** when put under pressure.
4. ball joints could need replacing such as bottom ball joint and anti roll bar bushes.

you can check the oil by finding the oil level bolt on gearbox remove bolt and if oil comes out its ok if not it needs topping up.

you can check engine/gearbox mounts by getting a good hold of the top of engine and give it a hard pull and push their should be only slight play any more and some mounts may be worn.

ball joints you can check by jacking the van off the floor then use pry bar to put bushes under pressure and check for play, their should be only slight play any more and the bush will need replacing.

Now if you have auto box then the chances are the fluid is bad and needs replacing or worse case it could be that the torque converter is on its way out.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Isuzu bighorn 1994 manual, slips out of 4th and

Problem is the detent springs for 4/5 gear have gone weak .
If you are handy its take the top off the gearbox from inside the car and you will see the plug then the springs and balls .
If not its a transmission shop job.

Alfa's have a Nylon ball with the gear selector (under the gearbox). They wear pretty easily. This could be pretty worn, either that or you're running low on gearbox, or "selespeed" oil. Check them out. They're pretty important and can cause serious problems to the gear box if not looked after.

Hi, I was trying to fill the oil in the gearbox. But I opened a wrong one nut. when I make that nut loose I hear something falling inside the gearbox. Now the gears r not working fully

this would be the detent ball i believe you might better have to to a shop to repair before that gets ground into the gears. or try draining fluid and see if you can get out. should be a spring and ball
