How. To change Rear main seal

remove gear box and flywheel for starters if the rear seal is in a case then remove that case and fit new seal. If it is a lip seal the remove the old seal and check the crank shaft for a groove. IT is grooved use a "speedie" sleeve ( trade mark name) from a bearing /seal supplier and then fit the new seal using a quality seal fitting tool.

If the rear main seal is the old two piece seal/ felt seal then you will have to virtually remove the crank to do the job properly.

Valve lifters need resetting

If your engine is 1980 or above, virtually all lifters are hydraulic and are self adjusting. No manual adjustment can be performed. When they get too noisy and a high quality oil change or oil additive will not quiet them, time for a valve job and component replacement. Just a note: poor quality fuel, poor ignition components (worn as to produce weak plug firing) and improper/faulty emissions sensors/devices can cause lifter noise due to misfire, timing advance/decline, and imcomplete combustion. A thorough tune up is always recommended before assuming internal engine parts are bad. If you have a check engine light on, codes there may give a route to a solution as well.....MIke

I want to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge on a 2007 (new body style) Silverado. Where is the best spot on a 4.8L?

Virtually all GM engines have an oil pressure sensor very near the oil filter (or the oil filter adapter in the rare circumstances of a remote oil filter) If you find the factory sending unit, it usually is standard pipe thread and you should be able to put a "T" in it to allow the original sending unit to still do its job.

No, if it's not on the BIOS you can't start it. You need a new BIOS for that.

I don't know how to use the plastic wheel nut cap remover

They are actually fitted over your lug nut. Your factory wrench should be fitted over these as they will turn with lugs. One more advice piece here, always use the factory lug wrench to break them loose before using an air impact to finish the job. Often times, the impact will round these off making it virtually impossible to remove without going ahead and destroying them. Try for parts if this ever happens as they usually have them for around $6-8 as this is a common problem. hope this helps.

1995 (X300) Jaguar XJ6 Starter Replacement

Remove the windshield wiper motor for access to the top bolt. Use a 13mm dogbone with a pipe or similar for leverage. They used locktite on the bolts,so it's a bear to get loose. This job is a real P.I.T.A. Good luck.
