I have static in the radio when I turn on the rear defroster.

The rear screen heater is a pure resistance being fed with direct current and normally will cause no radio interference as it does not vibrate or oscillate, though a loose or dirty connection or dirty switch could produce interference.

Some cars use the rear screen as a radio aerial and these are prone to producing radio interference, especially when trying to receive vertically polarised signals.
I tried this myself using a bi-fi rear screen aerial adaptor and was very disappointed with the results, the signal-to-noise ratio was appalling.

If your car uses the rear screen as an aerial there is likely to be a box of electrickery physically somewhere near the rear screen where the aerial cable originates. This box contains stuff to decouple the radio signals from the HRW circuit and will probably contain a signal amplifier.

The static you hear might just be a drastic reduction in signal strength rather than actual generated interference. You can do little else but to check the connections to and from the unit particularly the ground connections and check the voltages present on the related wiring. If no external faults are found it is likely the box of electrickery has failed.

Spending a while looking at dedicated forums might help further.

Radio very noisy, been to 2 dealers and been told 2 different stories both with end result cannot be fixed. Does anyone else have this problem and any diy ideas

by noisy do you mean static, squeal on starting the car or what
if it is static it could be a bad aerial
squeal could be electrical interference from starter motor
dealers do not fix radios so you would be better off taking it to a radio shop ( where radios are installed ) for a qualified opinion and diagnosis
if you take it to several and you get the same opinion then get a quote to fix or replace

I would consult a repair shop or buy the service manual and look through the wiring diagrams. If you can't read wiring diagrams and have no testing equipment then it is best left to a repair facility.

Wrong spoiler installed on my new 2012 camaro.

This is tough. You are going to lose out no matter what is done. If you ever watched "Overhaulin" on TV, you see widespread use of body filler. The better method is to "Lead" the holes in. This is an ART.

Now to replace the fenders, if I am visualizing your car, would usually involve cutting off the rear quarterpanels. This is kind of drastic. If the Dealer would want to do that, he may be better off buying you a new car.

Your current car will not have a Factory undercoat process if the rear fenders are replaced. You already will not have a Factory paint job even for patching the 4 holes. But the body integrity from the Factory will remain by just filling in the 4 holes. If the underside of the holes are inside of your trunk, then road splashes and salt spray will not be a factor.

The Dealer is at a loss here even with patching holes. Replacing the fenders would cost thousands. It will still cost hundreds to patch the holes properly.

Good luck with this.

check the connections going in to the window leads and also with a test light ,check if their is power at the terminals that plug into the window leads. does your car still have factory warranty that the dealer can look into this.

Radio

If the radio is aftermarket, they cross the circuitry of the antenna near the defroster, causing static in the antenna everytime you turn it on. Disassemble the radio and check for the wiring. Worst case scenario: they used the Positive wiring for the defogger switch and connected a wire to the radio's ACC cable.
