The car can have Bi-Xenons or halogens lamps, the bulb would be different. The user manual shows which bulb type to use.
Changing the halogen bulb would be quite easy. On the contrary changing Xenon HID's involves some knowhow and should be done by a dealer, they also need to be replaced in pairs.
The halogen replacement bulb assemblies go in at the rear of the headlight plastic housing. It's just a twist lock to remove the lamp. After removal of the burnt out bulbs, do not touch the new halogen bulb with your fingers, latex gloves work best. oils from your fingers will cause the outer glass to break when bulb gets hot
I don't know how to replace the headlight replacement, but I can tell you how to replace the bulbs if that is what you want to know. It all depends on if your vehicle is equipped with halogen or xenon bulbs. I am posting instructions for both.
1. Turn the headlamp bulb plastic cap counterclockwise to unlock and remove it 2. Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to unlock and remove it (xenon) 3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the bulb terminals (halogen) 4. Unlock the retaining springs and remove the bulb 5. Release the ignitor and remove from the plastic cap (xenon) 6. Turn the high beam lamp socket counterclockwise to unlock and remove it. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
look in owners manual back index for bulb replacement, it will show and tell you how to replace light bulbs.make sure you wear clean glove when handling halogen head light bulbs because oils from skin will cause halogen bulbs to over heat and blow out, halogen bulbs not cheap.
WARNING: THE REPLACEABLE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB CONTAINS GAS UNDER PRESSURE. THE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB MAY SHATTER IF THE GLASS ENVELOPE IS SCRATCHED OR THE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB IS DROPPED. HANDLE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB CAREFULLY. GRASP HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB ONLY BY ITS PLASTIC BASE. AVOID TOUCHING GLASS ENVELOPE. KEEP HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Position headlamp switch (11654) and headlamp time delay switch (13736) in the OFF position.
Remove two bolts retaining headlamp (13008) to upper support assembly and loosen pinch bolt. Remove headlamp assembly from vehicle.
Remove park lamp bulb and socket (Sable only) and headlamp bulb and socket from Headlamp Assembly as outlined.
Headlamp Assembly (Taurus Shown, Sable Similar)
Turn lamp socket and wiring (13410) assembly 1/2 turn counterclockwise and remove from parking lamp (13200) housing.
Remove screw from park/turn signal housing.
Using 1/4 inch drive socket extension and swivel, insert tool through two access holes in upper radiator support. Remove screws from park/turn signal housing.
There is a threaded ring that must be turned counter clockwise to remove bulb, it can be done without removing anything but the ring once the ring is pulled away from lamp pull bulb out and buy replacement, suggest you buy two new lamps and replace withthe new halogen lamps.
LOOK INSIDE THE ENGINE BAY BEHIND THE HEADLIGHT, THERE IS MOST PROBABLY A RUBBER COVER WITH THE LIGHT WIRES GOING INTO IT, THERE WILL BE A PLASTIC PLUG WHICH THOSE WIRES CONNECT TO AND THE PLUG THEN IS CONNECTED TO THE HALOGEN LIGHT BULB.
REMOVE THE PLUG AND THE RUBBER COVER WHICH WILL EXPOSE THE REAR OF THE LIGHT, YOU MAY NOTICE THE 3 PRONGS AT THE REAR OF THE HALOGEN BULB, THERE ARE 2 SPRING TYPE WIRES THAT YOU HAVE TO PRESS DOWN AND PULL TOWARDS THE CENTRE TO ALLOW IT TO BE REMOVED, ONCE THEY ARE LOOSENED YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE BULB AND REPLACE IT WITH THE NEW ONE BUT DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS AS THE BULB MAY BLOW WHEN YOU TURN THE LIGHTS ON
CHECK THE WATTS ON THE SIDE OF THE OLD BULB AND MAKE SURE THE NEW BULB HAS THE SAME WATTS
REPLACE IN REVERSE ORDER TO REMOVAL
I just Replaced a Low Beam Light bulb on a 2005 Buick La Sabre.
If You use a Metric socket and Remove the Two Silver bolts Attaching the headlight Assemble onto the metal surrounding the the lamp assembly it comes out to the front. This makes it much easier to access the bulb. Twist it counerclockwise & it comes out by pulling gently on the bulb. Then by realeasing a tab that is the socket holder bulb can be removed & replaced with a New #9006 low beam halogen light bulb. Wrap a Paper towel around the bulb & do NOT touch it with your bare hand as this wiil ruin a halogen bulb,
