Is it carbureted or fuel injected? Electric fuel pump or mechanical? And does it knock at idle and all engine speeds? Double check your valve adjustment also.

SOURCE: knocking in cylinder head of escort 1.8 lx td

Hi

Engine knock, if it is coming from low down in the block, is usually caused by worn big ends, and is more pronounced at idle or under load.

Diesels, however have the added bonus of being able to create a nice knock due bad fuel atomisation, overfuelling, or excess oil burning.

Bad fuel atomisation is usually caused by dirty injectors.

Excess oil burning is usually caused by a worn turbo amongst other things.

Very best regards

Geordie

SOURCE: I have Isuzu Rodeo 2000

Low engine oil pump pressure, When the oil light comes on the is a low oil pressure condition, The oil pump circulates the oil . 1. reason for a loss of oil pressure is the excessive clearance in the engine bearing.2. another is for lack is oil passage is block from the oil screen. . is the oil pan damage like it been hit. That can cause a blockage and in return plug the oil passage. When you change the oil was the oil silverish in color, if it is that bearing that are worn and are getting shaved off. Mild or not damage has occurred

Where should my rotor bug be pointing to when num 1 is at tdc on a 5.7 TBI in a 1989 1500 4x4 chevy

The rotor button should be pointed at the number one cylinder on the contact of the distributor cap. Be careful because on some of the GM distributor caps can be a little confusing. The contacts on the inside of the distributor cap can sometimes be a little confusing. Also on another note, those 5.7 vortec heads on a older 5.7 TBI block will make a very noticeable difference. Make sure and check the exhaust and intake ports and see if they are the same size. Some vortec heads have what they call a "Cathedral port". Lastly if you are kinda handy around a shop you can port and polish the inside of the cylinder head yourself. The main thing is to get all of the rough casting burs off the inside of the ports. I have used a flex head dremel tool and sanded them smooth. You will not believe the increase in torque, horsepower, and throttle response. Good luck.

How to replace freeze plug

use a punch or a freeze plug remover and knock it out of the cylinder head or block. make sure you drain the cooling system first otherwise there will be a massive mess. clean off seated surface of cylinder head or block with crocus cloth, apply a thin layer of grease on either freeze plug or on the seating surface and use the freeze plug installer to knock the freeze plug back into place.

I have a 1995 K2500 that had the motor changed to a HD 383 Stroker before I bought it / It also has vortec heads. The oil pressure seems really low to me. About 2 to 5 lbs at idle. About 30 to 35 lb

That will burn out the engines bearings, if it knocks at all it is to late. Do verify the reading with a mechanical gauge if you haven't done so already. The rule is this at least 10-15 pounds at idle with hot oil, 10 PSI per 1000 RPM of engine speed. If engine is not knocking then replace the oil pump with a high pressure high volume pump.
