Question about Ford Cars & Trucks

Is there anyone with a schematic drawing of the Jake's brake system for the Ford Louisville 1990 L9000 models, I understand that this is probably still in a workshop manual. A copy would be great plea

An internet serach, the local Australia repairers and Detroit Diesel who only provide info on the engine side.

Sorry for my part I believe you will need a Ford service manual OR you might find a repair shop that has aftermarket service manuals such as SNAP-ON TOOLS and that would provide you with this information. I suppose you have googled it already.

Plus I noticed that the exhaust brake is on 100% of the time. Under the dash I found a wire with a push on connector that is labeled exhaust brake but not hooked up, is that ok ?

jake brakes have a separate isolation switch , that the operator can used to turn of the jake brake when that operation is not required
many vehicles have the jake brake connected to a switch/ sensor on the accelerator pedal or linkage to operate as you describe and the power for that switch/ sensor comes from the switch that I mentioned ,in the dash or steering wheel controls
A make and model of engine , vehicle would be a help but what I mentioned is basic to all models of operations

Why it sounds like it's jake braking when I lay off the throttle? The jake brake is not even switched on either?

Jake brakes are controlled by electro-mechanical solenoids that are screwed in the Jake housings on top of the camshafts and rocker arms. Oil passes through these solenoids when they are switched on, and oil pressure is what opens your exhaust valves up to use the engine as a brake. Sounds like you have one or more of these solenoids that are stuck on, letting oil by all the time. Another thing could be a bad Jake Brake On/Off switch, letting power by even if it's off... (doubt that would be it though, but it could be)

There are no schematics on the Internet for 90 model. Ford was using books. What are you looking for?

Require a drawing of 1990 ford Louisville L9000 with Detroit diesel series 60 engine

Hi there,

According to this link, they DO seem to have the diagram you are looking for. It appears to be downloadable (and free), however you are required to sign up at the link which I choose not to do only because I am signed up for too many items today!

I cannot vouch for the website but the link appears to be safe & virus free. The indication is that this is a 'research' website fyi.

Please take a sec and let me know if this was helpful? Thanks & good luck!

The only thing that keeps a diesel engine from running.. OTHER THAN A MECHANACAL PROBLEM.. is lack of fuel. Since it starts when you spray starting spray the engine probably does not have a mechanical problem 1. does the fuel solenoid open when you energize it?, is the fuel filter clogged?, is the lift pump working? Is there fuel in the tank? IF YOU HAVE RUN OUT OF FUEL YOU WILL NEED TO BLEED THE AIR OUT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM.

Jack it up on stands and pull handbrake. then the wheel which is the problem strip it and check it inside even asking someone slowly slowly to pull the hand brake and watch to see what is working and what is not, probably the retainers are not working or no collect thickness of brake shoes etc.

My signal lights and brake lights on my 91' Ford mustang stopped working. Does anyone have a owners manual?

Try checking http://www.ffcars.com/forums/108-electrical/211187-helpful-electrical-drawings-schematics.html. You've checked your fuses already, correct? You can also pick up the correct Haynes or Chiltons manuals not only from your local Autozone or Pep Boys, but also many libraries carry these manuals as well.
