SOURCE: Car Battery draining over night

Something is shorted and it could be very difficult to find sometimes. It could be something as simple as a button being pressed when it shouldn't turning on a light or feature that runs all the time, but in a 2001 that is unlikely as it should turn off all lights after a certain period of time. It could be something in the radio. What I suggest is to pull one fuse at a time for accessories, check your manual for what each fuse powers. If the battery still drains with that fuse out then put it back in a pull another. When you find the fuse that allows your battery to keep it's charge then you will have a much smaller field of offending components.

For example, if you pull the fuse that powers the radio and heater, and the battery keeps it's charge then you know it is either the heater or radio causing your problem.

This can take a few weeks to do completly but won't cost you a penny to do.

i think replacing the sensor is in order. i know all car makes have "recalibration updates" for the ecm and should be done, but have rarely fixed vehicles on just that alone. and your symptoms suggest the sensor could be intermittently bad

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Altima makes rattling/vibration noise

It is possible that you have some timing chain noise, especially if you have the 3.5L engine. The secondary timing chain tensioners on the 3.5 have a known problem, Nissan has issued a service bulletin regarding this and there is an updated part to replace them. It is not a cheap job, but your dealer may give you some "goodwill" depending on your mileage. If you have the 2.5L the problem may a couple of other things...even more serious! They had catalytic converters that came apart and got ingested into the engine, eventually destroying it. Try googling "Altima rattle" and include your engine size in the search. There is a ton of info on the net about noises in these cars.

SOURCE: 1993 Nissan Altima The security

Yes, the security system shuts power to the starter and fuel pump. You can try disarming by unlocking and locking the doors the power door locks switch (depends on model). Place the key in the ignition and set to ON, ALL doors closed!! Cycle the locks using the power locks button on the driver's door "lock" then "unlock" if this doesnt work, try same method with the ignition OFF. Otherwise your security system is malf.

Why is my new battery running down while car is parked and turned off?

Check all the dome lights or the light in the trunk. One of them is on all the time. Or something else is on or shorted. Take out one fuse each night, to see what circuit is running something. You might have a bad alternator.

New battery draining on 2005 Nissan altima

your going to need a 12 volt test light and then go to the fuse box find a good ground for the alligator clip ya don't have to pull the fuses there's a spot of metal showing on each end of the plastic when both ends light up on the tester that's where your drain is at. usually its a trunk light not shutting when trunk is closed or hood, check fuses first that should give ya an area to look at

Replace fuel pump 2008 nissan altima

iv never known a fuel pump to make lots of clicks when starting. sounds to me like the clicking could be the starter motor either faulty or not having enough power, or a power shortage causing relays to click. check your battery connections if all looks good either charge the battery or try jump leads linked to a good battery.

Check alternator belt. Light is to show alternator working, not battery state.
If you have a volt meter check output is around 12.5 -14.5 volts when car running.

Simple solutions first, check fuses, if they are ok then the relays need to be checked, if they are ok then deeper issues arise, there could be a number of issues, the nuetral start switch, solonoid on the starter motor or faulty ignition system, this will have to be analized by someone with a code reader, this will determine the fault and he can tell you the cost. Hope this guide will help you, Good luck

Altima ran out of gas and wont start anymore

Your clicking aounds like you have a low battery or bad connection. Ck both battery cables at the battery. Remove, clen, inspect and reinstall. If the battery is dead, you may have a charging system problem and your car didn't run out of fuel, The fuel pump quit because of the battery. Good Luck
