Question about 2006 Cadillac SRX
Had local cadillac dealership check it and they said I needed a new engine to the tune of $6,100.00
You will need a service manual at the least OR take your chances with a non GM engine rebuilder etc.

If you have check engine light ON in this model, i would advise you to seek a dealer ASAP. as there could be many reasons. He would need to diagnose and scan the car. On the basis of that, he could tell the exact diagnosis. However, as you want more details, so below is the most probable cause ( again you need to get the car scanned ) :-
Subject: LP1, LY7 MIL/DTCs P0008, P0009, P0016, P0017, P0018 or P0019 (Replace Primary Drive and Both Secondary Drive Timing Chains) Models: 2007 Buick LaCrosse/Allure 2007 Cadillac CTS, SRX, STS with 2.8L HFV6 or 3.6L HFV6 Engine (VINs T, 7 -- RPOs LP1, LY7)
Attention: The bulletin does not apply for 2008 model year 2.8L HFV6 or 3.6L HFV6 Engines. This bulletin is being revised to include additional information on model years for the third design roller-type chain, add an Attention statement that this bulletin does not apply to the 2008 model year and update the Parts Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-06-01-013A (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System).
Some customers may comment on the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) being illuminated. Technicians may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored:
• DTC P0008 : Engine Position System Performance Bank 1 • DTC P0009 : Engine Position System Performance Bank 2 • DTC P0016 : Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1 • DTC P0017: Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1 • DTC P0018 : Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 2 • DTC P0019 : Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 2 This condition may be caused by stretched primary drive and both secondary drive timing chains.
Refer to SI for the follow diagnostic information if only one of the following DTCs are set:
• DTC P0008 • DTC P0009 • DTC P0016 • DTC P0017 • DTC P0018 • DTC P0019If there are more than one of the above mention DTCs set, inspect for stretched timing chains. Refer to Camshaft Timing Drive Components Cleaning and Inspection (Fourth Design) in SI.
It may take several thousand miles/kilometers of use before the timing chains begin to stretch. Inspect both the primary drive and both secondary drive timing chains for the following:
• Binding links • Loose links • Loose pinsIf any of the chains are stretched, replace the primary drive and both secondary drive timing chains only. DO NOT replace any of the other timing chain component parts.
Important: When ordering the timing chains, please be sure to also order all appropriate gaskets and seals needed to perform the repair properly
Timing Chain, Primary
Timing Chain, Secondary
For vehicles repaired under warranty, use:
Chain, Camshaft Timing -- Replace
Use Published Labor Operation Time
If the oil is not leaking from the engine ,it is being burned by the engine. This is common in a lot of the Cadillacs.most of the time the piston rings are stuck with carbon build up & cleaning the upper combustion with top engine cleaner will take care of it.
There are no recalls on timing chain stretch or camshafts for this vehicle at this time.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

it is on the passenger side of the pan, if you cannot find it, you are probably looking at the trans pan, the oil pan will not look like a normal pan, it will be square and aluminum with all kinds of diamond looking deep etches in it.

wow i feel sorry for you because Cadillac designed this bulb to be a don't get to bulb but OK here's what you do take the bottom cover off or skid plastic panel under neath the front end theirs little plastic clips holding it on just get come dikes and don't cut them but just use it to help pull them out. after you get that off use a flash light and locate your light housing you should see two screws holding the house in i think those screws are 8mm i cant remember remove those two screws and be careful the metal from the bumper cuts you pull the light housing out and remove all the screws around the housing and open the housing up replace the bulb and make sure your contact to the bulbs clean and then reassemble the way you took apart. if you cant get it well then best bet is take it somewhere i know Cadillac charges an arm and a leg so you can go somewhere else.

Your car should have different shocks from most cars, with the magnetic, electrical charge viscosity change. Be sure that the shocks are actually not functioning correctly.
