If this is the 3.5 Lit V6, you have an APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) and a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) either of which could be defective but it may also need to have the mass airflow sensor changed.

If this is what I think it is, on the 3.5 Lit V6, you have an APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) and a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). The accelerator pedal cable is NOT directly connected to the throttle body plate, it's connected to the APS. The APS sends its signal to the ETSCM (Electronic Throttle System Control Module) which in turn activates the ETS Motor located on the throttle body which opens/closes the throttle plate/butterfly. It's a very sofisticated electronic system. Both the APS and the TPS are known to go bad and simply replacing them is no guarantee of fixing problems in this system (often times it does, and frequently it doesn't). You should first verify there is a problem with these sensors (APS and or TPS). They are basic potentiometers (two circuits in each) which provide data to the computer regarding throttle opening for LOAD calculations (ignition timing, fuel injector pulse width, cruise control operation, etc). Best you have this system diagnosed by a professional technician who knows the system.

Thisa sounds like a worn TPS on the throttle body. Although there are literally dozens of sensors that provide critical data to the engine management computer of a modern, fuel-injected engine, few are actually adjustable, or can be affected by adjustments of related components. The throttle position sensor, often referred to as the TP sensor or TPS, is one of these rare devices.


It is important to get to know the function and servicing of this sensor for a couple of reasons. As with any electro-mechanical moving part, they have been known to malfunction or ultimately just plain wear out. Besides that, they are often victims of improper service procedures. These procedures will either result in damage to the sensor, or impair its range of operation. In any event, a malfunctioning, damaged, or misadjusted TPS will cause a variety of driveablility symptoms, often accompanied by a check engine MIL (malfunction indicator light) displayed on the instrument panel.

Electronic throttle control problem .
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system delivers improved throttle response and greater reliability and eliminates the need for mechanical cable. The TAC system performs the following functions:
• Accelerator pedal position sensing
• Throttle positioning to meet driver and engine demands
• Throttle position sensing
• Internal diagnostics
• Cruise control functions

I changed everything on a 2007 Chevy uplander the camshaft position sensor And the purged sensor And the throttle body and still the check engine light and the reduce engine power came back on

It will not accelerate. I push on the gas and it won't go. I changed the oil a week ago and about a year ago i changed the fuel pump


Well an oil change is probably not the cause.

MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TAKES A SLOW RESPONSE BEFORE TALKING OFF. I PUT MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN BUT IT DELAY A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING


That is a drive by wire throttle set up. (No cable connects the pedal to the throttle body) I have heard of a few problems with throttle body motor lag, but i would check the pedal sensor and see if it is within the specs and do the same for the motor.

Have someone depress the accelerator pedal and observe under the hood if the other end of the cable is moving the throttle at the throttle body. Could be simple like a broken cable.

Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Overview
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system uses vehicle electronics and components to calculate and control the position of the throttle blade. This eliminates the need for a mechanical cable attachment from the accelerator pedal to the throttle body. This system also performs the cruise control functions as well.
The TAC system components include, but are not limited to the following:
• The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensors
• The throttle body
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
Each of these components interface together to ensure accurate calculations and control of the throttle position.

Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor
The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor is mounted on the accelerator pedal assembly. The APP is 2 individual APP sensors within one housing. There are 2 separate signal, low reference, and 5-volt reference circuits. APP sensor 1 voltage increases as the accelerator pedal is depressed. APP sensor 2 voltage decreases as the accelerator pedal is depressed.
Throttle Body Assembly
The throttle body for the throttle actuator control (TAC) system is similar to a conventional throttle body with several exceptions. One exception being the use of a motor to control the throttle position instead of a mechanical cable. Another exception is the throttle position (TP) sensor. The TP sensor is mounted in the throttle body assembly. The TP sensor is 2 individual TP sensors within the throttle body assembly. Two separate signals, low reference, and 5-volt reference circuits are used to connect the TP sensors and the powertrain control module (PCM). TP sensor 2 signal voltage increases as the throttle opens. TP sensor 1 signal voltage decreases as the throttle opens.

Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a problem with the throttle actuator control (TAC) system the PCM enters one of the following Reduced Engine Power Modes:
• Acceleration Limiting--The control module will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however the vehicle acceleration is limited.

Have you had it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ?

The commanded throttle position (TP) is compared to the actual TP. Both values should be within a calibrated range of each other. The powertrain control module (PCM) continuously monitors the commanded and actual TPs. If the values are greater than the calibrated range, DTC P2176 sets.

Your vehicle has electronic throttle control . Position sensor's in the gas pedal an the throttle body , inputs to the Throttle Actuator Control Module
The TAC module is the control center for the throttle actuator control system. The TAC system is self-diagnosing and provides diagnostic information to the PCM through a dedicated serial data line. The TAC achieves throttle positioning by providing a pulse width modulated voltage to the TAC as directed by the PCM.

The throttle actuator control (TAC) system delivers improved throttle response and greater reliability and eliminates the need for mechanical cable. The TAC system performs the following functions:
• Accelerator pedal position sensing
• Throttle positioning to meet driver and engine demands

The TP sensors are used to determine the throttle plate angle. The control module provides each TP sensor a 5-volt reference circuit and a low reference circuit. The TP sensors then provide the control module with signal voltage proportional to throttle plate movement. Both TP sensor signal voltages are low at closed throttle and increase as the throttle opens.

Flickering light's could be caused by a bad diode in the alternator . Fluctuating idle could be caused same alternator problem or dirty throttle plate.

check the gas cable at the throttle body under the hood, it is possible the cable has either broken or become dis connected. remove the air cleaner and look into throttle body and find the rotating shaft that opens and closes the plate inside throttle body. 1) when you rotate does plate move? 2) is there cable attached to pulley? 3) when someone steps on pedal does the plate move? 1 not likely issue, 2 might be issue reattach cable to pulley, 3 pedal does not move pulley cable disconnected at pedal reconnect there or cable is broken replace cable. if non of these then throttle position sensor may be bad and check or replace

The reduced engine power happens because there is a problem with the electronic throttle control . Some people call it drive by wire ! The gas pedal has sensors inside , position sensors , connected electrical to the PCM - engine computer , the throttle body on the engine has a DC electric motor an also has position sensors . These are also connected to the PCM electrical . The PCM reads the position sensors which indicate how much your pressing on the gas pedal . then hopefully it opens the throttle the same amout .
