Your going to need a 12 volt test light and then go to the fuse box find a good ground for the alligator clip ya don't have to pull the fuses there's a spot of metal showing on each end of the plastic when both ends light up on the tester that's where your drain is at. usually its a trunk light not shutting when trunk is closed or hood, check fuses first that should give ya an area to look at

Something is draining the power I recommend you take it to a mechanic or a friend to be checked, hard to say what may be the problem without looking around.

When the battery is drained from leaving the keys in the on position, what else must i do besides get a new battery?


keep ignition off, if have had no problem with battery you could get it charged without replacing battery

Need to disconnect ground to battery before replacing light bulb or fuse will blow. Fuse is located in engine compartment next to windshield washer fluid.

Car has NO pwer at all


Check that battery contacts are well connected.

If there is no power at all, then it is either a broken wire or connector, or the ignition cylinder is faulty.

The only way to find out is using a car voltmeter tool on battery wires and ignition wiring.

If the starter/solenoid is new/replaced, most likely the cable from the battery to the solenoid needs replacing or the connection ends saned and cleaned for a good electrical contact, Also chek the gound wire connections (if any)

The starter solenoid (must buy complete starter) -or-
The cable from the battery to the solenoid needs replacing or the connections need cleaning
If you are handy, the starter can be rmoved without too much work and exchanged for a rebuilt/remanufactured one
