I have a 5 year auto loan with chase auto and am on my 3rd year of payments. I've never missed a payment and still owe almost as much as i borrowed. the refuse to change my due date and continue to keep...

You can request a payment deferral where they take your next payment and put it at the end of the loan thus allowing you the time to put the money up for the next payment and keeping you from being late. If all else failss i suggest that you look into refinancing with another bank or loan company at a lower apr rate.

My 2004 santa fe starts up but then dies, ran fine all day yesterday and this morning did this...lights come on so battery is ok.....fuel pump should be ok if it the car starts.....Ive read some horror...

The best kind of car is the paid-for kind...brand has very little to do with it these days. There are all kinds of things that can cause your vehicle to start and die. A MAP Sensor could cause it. I have even seen bad ignition switches cause similar symptoms. Nobody can tell you how much it is going to cost or how much you can "expect to spend" until you find out what is causing it...that's what the diagnostics is for. As far as trading the vehicle in???...All I can say about that is that I can't figure the math that most people use. I have had customers tell me that they cannot afford a vehicle any longer because they had to spend $2000 dollars in the last year on repairs. Then they turn around and jump into a $450/Month car payment???? How is it they can afford $5400/year in car payments, but cannot afford $2000/year in repairs to keep their old car in good running condition? My computer just does not work that way...I don't get it.

The problem is the truck wants to start but just won't kick over also the last place i took the truck too my spark plugs were flooded out twice once again they flooded what could the problem be

I had a W150 4x4 for over 15 years. One time the truck wouldn't start, the MAP sensor went on the blink. I unplugged the vacuum line from it and plugged the hose with a pencil. The truck started and ran, but would run rich.

Another time, the fuel injectors had to be replaced. I tested that by spraying starting fluid into the throttle body. The truck would run as long as the fluid was provided. The fuel pressure was fine so it wasn't the pump or the filter. I replaced both injectors and the problem was corrected.

My truck had an old fashion way of checking the equivalent of today's DTC codes. If you turn your key to ACC 3 times, the check engine light would flash 5 long pulses and 5 short (55) to signify that a reading of the trouble code was in progress. Then if there was a code, example (34), there would be 3 long pulses followed by 4 short pulses of the check engine light. At the conclusion of the test, (55) would pulse again. Then you look up what ALARM 34 is. ( I had a service manual from Dodge)

When should I change coolant. Dealers want to change it every24,000 m. But maintenance remainder system indicates to wait for code 5?

I would change it every other year or 24,000 mi. for an average person's driving habits. However, note that some warrantees for antifreeze claim that they last up to 5 years (or 50,000 mi.) without having to be changed.

You could wait for the reminder to issue a code 5, but I am unsure how many miles you have to wait for this to happen.

Fuel pump trouble shoot

You can use a voltmeter and test the power to the fuel pump. You can test power to the fuel pump relay as well. You can test the fuel pump relay with an ohmmeter on the RX1 setting to see if it is good. Make sure to check your fuses as well. Another good test is a fuel pressure test.
When you first turn your car's acc. on without starting the car, you should hear the fuel pump prime itself up for about 5-10 seconds. You should be able to hear it pump.

Without looking at it sounds like you need a battery. If the battery over 5 years old it needs to go. Once you install the battery it will be well worth it to have someone check the charging system.
