Gas in the oil very bad issue. Often caused by leaky fuel injector (or on carb engine stuck float valve or dirty needle/seat). It would help to know what vehicle you have, but if fuel injected, bad fuel pressure regulator can do this too. Check fuel pressure key on engine off, and running and compare to specs. If it turns out to be leaking fuel injector I suspect rust or dirt in fuel system may have caused this. Don't just replace the injector(s), but find the cause!

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Yesterday I started it with no problem to go somewhere.. a mile up the road it just stopped running. I had full power as far as electrical, (lights, radio, etc.) But I't...

If it utterly stopped working instantly, maybe the timing belt popped. If so, galants are interferance engines and itll need to be replaced because a piston would have rammed some valves. If it sputtered and just sounded like it kind of choked, might want to see if the fuel pump died

The only thing I know of, on a gasoline engine, that will bite you is secondary ignition voltage. What about your ignition coil? If the vehicle will run, raise the hood in the dark, look for fire/spark jumping around.

A taping sound coming from the front of the motor and it got worst and kind of back fired sound like its popping and has a gas smell.

A valve train going bad. Gas smell due to gas not firing and blowing out ther back. Popping because exhaust valve isn't closing completely for compression stroke. Put a quart of RISLONE in the oil not to overfill oil level. Run it for an hour, cahnge your oil.

My car seems to run for 3 seconds and dies, I have changed fuel filter just before problem started. After trying many times it will start, only to do same thing next day

Sounds like there is a leak somewhere [ loose fitting. o-ring or copper washer out of place ] letting the fuel run-back and letting air into the system. re-check you work.

Check the oil. A few of them cars back in the 80's had a low oil switch to prevent the engine from running if the oil was low by turning off the fuel pump. But if it runs when you pour gas in it, and you say it has fuel pressure? Why is it not getting fuel? There has to be shut off somewhere in the line that is preventing it. Try removing a battery terminal to kill the entire system then, retry it. You never know.
