Jack the car up and support with stands , freely rotate the tires with transmission in neutral . You can typically hear the bearing if it is bad. If not proceed to inspect wheel speed sensor wiring and connectors for damage or broken wiring. Make repairs or replace as necessary . When completed reset faults by either scan tool or disconnecting negaitive battery cable for 3 to 5 minutes

If you are scanning with a Snap On Scanner can you talk to other modules like powertrain, transmission? If you can then you probaly have a blown ABS Fuse check in PDC under hood fuse block. If you can not talk with other modules then look for a blown fuse in main fuse block.

Don't waste time trying to troubleshoot.....With safety glasses disconnect negative battery cable for 10 seconds to reset computer system ...If one wheel spins slightly on a wet highway or gravels it will read out of position with other wheels meaning loss of traction which will cause code lights to appear....Resetting system will erase codes.....Reconnect battery and test drive...If lights come back on take to dealer and have it scanned to save time and money....If they don't come on problem solved....

By ABS sensor he means wheel speed sensor. Once you get scanner to work, it should tell you which wheel has the issue.

I have a 05 impala. Abs/trac light came on with service trac control message. took and had code pulled and was told short in abs cicuit.? thanks for your help.

yes the abs and trac work on the same sensors, could be a bad wire, sensor, have it put on a real time scanner where you can read all the sensors and actuators while driving, easiest way

ABS light and Trac Cont light stay on....

Check your rear brakes and inside the rear Rotors. There are ABS scanners and if Autozone or Oreillys have that type of scanner, they will scan for free.

Because the Trac Control is on the Rear axle all of your problems are probably rearward. What usually happens is the Emergency brake material and the Rotor pads wear down and blind the sensors. Sometimes the Trac Control will destroy the brake linings. The Trac Control works by applying the rear brake to the fastest spinning wheel in an effort to match each rear wheels speed.

When the sensors have debris flying in front of them, they miscount and include the debris in figuring RPM. Someone needs to disassemble and inspect the back brakes.

ABS, brake, trac control, service engine soon light came.

I'm sorry to say that you will need to see a dealer or repair shop so they scan your ABS for trouble codes first and then find your problem.

Transmission shifts hard when the trac off light comes on

youll need to scan for transmission codes. the trac off light is a default of the trans going into a default safety mode. Bad speed sensors and simple little bolt on items like that can cause the condition but only way to really nail it is with a computer.

Service traction system message

Probably a bad ABS sensor is shutting down the traction control system.First you have to take it in to a reliable tech.He would scan the computer & check your ABS sensors.Im fairly certain one of thoe sensors are acting up.
