This points towards the number 2 cylinder ignition coil or ignitor circuit malfunctioning. If it is intermittent, your car will have and lose power, making the engine run like a bucking bronco. A diagnosis is in order, it could be a wiring issue or a bad spark plug causing the symptom. Could also be ignition coil or ignition module. Should be a quick repair. ReNissan P0300

a misfire can be mechanical as well as electrical
code p 0300 is random/ multiple misfires detected
low fuel pressure is a probable cause from a problem fuel pressure regulator or problem EVAC system not venting properly causing a vacuum in the tank and starving the pump
erratic could be from valve problems on heating
loose valve seat insert/s, incorrect valve clearance from faulty hydraulic followers, cam shaft lobe failures are all part of the mechanical reason for random /multiple misfires

0300 reading

P0300 is a code that indicates the engine has a random cylinder misfire. The causes of this are so numerous as to not to be able to provide any real help without hands on testing. You also may need the engine control computer flashed, many vehicle makes did updates because this code keep setting and no problem was found to justify it.

Failed emmissions codes 0400-0443-0300

P0300 Random Misfire, means any cylinder at anytime.

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow. EGR passages are full of carbon
clean passages and misfires may go away

P0443 Evaporative Emission Purge Control Valve circuit.

now just because a code is present doesn't mean a part/sensor is bad, just where to look and to test.

New crate engine and new MFI unit, getting code p0300. New cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Will not idle and surges.

Good Evening, an 0300 is a random cylinder misfire, I know new engines take some time to break in as far as lifters pumping up and such which may be the case, but do not discount the fact of a vacuum leak as well whether it be a gasket somewhere on the intake or a vacuum line. Those would be the first things i would look at as well as maybe being off on the timing a little. Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

My check engine light on my 07 saturn ion keeps coming on and gives the code p1174 and p0300 what do they mean and how do i fix

1174 is a lean code, and would have to been set first because it will not set when the 0300 is there. 0300 is a random misfire, because it read after the lean code, it was probably caused by the lean condition. 1st check for vacuum leaks from hoses or intake gaskets, you cal listen for a hissing sound, or spray carb cleaner around intake systems, a change in rpm will be noticed when spraying near a vac leak. other probable causes are the upstream 02 sensor, map sensor, or fuel delivery problems. does the vehicle idle porly, or does it miss at the top end?
