Having some sort of a fan issue going on...


my guess is you dont know the radiator fan rules.
its different on each of 3 engines
I have the 3.7L in same car, same year, but is WK yours is XK
the larger passenger compartment with bigger engine.
i have the FSM (SM) factory service manual.
so will post the words out of it , its free to read, posted 300+ time here. and no more posts, im going dark....lol
chapter 7 covers both engine.

the 5.7 uses hydraulic fan (not electric motors but uses hydraluic motors, off ps pump)
so is the PS, assist ok and no noises from it.?

5.7L ENGINE The 5.7L hydraulic cooling fan is integral
to the fan shroud and is located between the radiator
and the engine.
The power steering pump supplies the hydraulic fluid
and pressure to rotate the cooling fan blade, while the
electrical part of the fan is controlled by the FCM.
The hydraulic fan drive (motor) consists of the three
major following components:
² Steering flow control valve
² Fan control valve
² Two stage G-rotor hydraulic drive
The hydraulic fan and drive is not serviceable. Therefore
any failure of the fan blade, hydraulic fan drive or
fan shroud requires replacement of the fan module
because the fan blade and hydraulic fan drive are
matched and balanced as a system and servicing
either separately would disrupt this balance.

HYDRAULIC FAN STRATEGY
The hydraulic radiator cooling fan is controlled by the FCM. A PWM (Pulse With Modulated) signal from the JTEC
controls the fan speed. There are four inputs to the FCM that determine what speed percentage of fan is required
by the vehicle. These inputs are:
² Engine Coolant Temperature
² Transmission Oil Temperature
² A/C System Pressure
By monitoring these three parameters, the FCM can determine if cooling airflow is required. If airflow is required, the
FCM will slowly ramp up (speed up) the fan speed until the parameter(s) are under control. Once the temperature

500 RPM when the vehicle is at idle. This is due to a controlled minimum oil flow requirement through the
fan drive motor.

Need to bypass power steering pulley on 98 tahoe


Most likely it is not possible. Vehicles with power steering need the hydraulic pressure to operate properly. It is not safe to drive a car without the power steering working. It will turn even harder than regular manual steering will. Usually, if anything is bypassable, it is only the A/C, since that is an option on vehicles.

This vehicle could have come with two different types of power steering ! One electric an the other hydraulic needing power steering fluid .
If your vehicle has no power steering fluid reservoir it has electric power steering .

Horn not working on 06 touran changed fuses makes no difference


It is not surprising that replacing fuses did not fix your horn. Fuses do not cuase electrical malfunctions in the first place. Electrical system malfunctions cause blow fuses. This may sound like a trivial point, but people that do not understand this basic "cause and effect" tend to spin their wheels for days and get nowhere, trying to diagnose electrical problems.

With all that said, there is not going to be any "clicking" from relays or any of that stuff that is associated with diagnosing the horn in granpa's old car. The horn circuits in your 2006 Touran are controlled by solid-state circuitry located in the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (VESCM). The VESCM communicates via data communications with the Multifunction Steering Wheel Control Module. Volkwagen actually calls this the "Infotainment CAN data communications bus". When you press the horn button, the Steering Wheel Control Module sends data to the VESCM telling it that you have requested the horn to operate. The VESCM then activates the horn circuit. To determine the cause of your horn circuits not working, it is necessary to interface with the VESCM with the proper diagnostic equipment and scan for fault codes as well as perform system tests.

I accidently put automatic trans fluid in my power steering reserviour


Transmission fluid and power steering fluid are the one in the same. They are both hydraulic fluid. Only the red dye. Your vehicle will operate fine on transmission fluid in the power steering pump. Just don;t put power steering fluid in your transmission

Where is the power steering temperature sensor on 1993 Toyota Camry v6


On some Camrys the radiator fan is run by hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump. I think the sensor you mention is the engine coolant temperature sensor, which is in the circuit which operates the fan when the engine becomes hot. If this fails the engine will overheat, yes. The fan does not cool the hydraulic fluid from the pump.

If your power steering fluid gets low the same thing can happen, but you would notice immediately as the steering would become intermittently harder.

Problems associated with low power steering fluid…

Hard Vehicle Steering
A low power steering fluid level can often times cause a vehicle's steering to become hard and labored. Adequate amounts of power steering fluid are necessary to enable a vehicle's power steering system to function and operate at optimum levels. A lack of power steering fluid in a vehicle's power steering system reduces the amount of hydraulic fluid pressure necessary to efficiently operating the various parts of the entire power steering system. Power steering fluid supplies the fluid force needed to operate the power steering gears and to enable power steering gearbox operation. Low power steering fluid levels reduce this hydraulic pressure, which commonly results in hard vehicle steering.

Pump Noise
It is very common for a low power steering fluid level to cause significant power steering pump noise. An adequate amount of power steering fluid is required to ensure the proper function and longevity of a power steering pump unit, which is a belt-driven pump responsible for housing and circulating power steering pump fluid. A low level of power steering fluid results in increased power steering pump friction, heat, and wear, all of which can significantly reduce the operational life of the power steering pump while at the same time cause excessive power steering pump noise.

Fluid Boiling
Many times a low power steering fluid level can result in excessive heating of power steering fluid, a condition that can seriously degrade the fluid and cause it to boil. A low power steering fluid level results in less available fluid to both lubricate and cool a power steering pump unit. A lack of power steering pump lubrication and cooling leads to excessive heat being generated within the power steering pump unit itself, a condition that translates into the available level of power steering fluid becoming super-heated and degraded. When this happens it is common for the power steering fluid to boil and lose all of its lubricating and heat-reducing capabilities.

Gearbox Wear
The power steering gearbox is a set of gears within a vehicle's power steering system designed to facilitate movement of a vehicle's front wheels. The power steering gearbox is connected to the power steering pump by hydraulic fluid lines that deliver a constant supply of power steering fluid to the power steering gearbox. A low power steering fluid level, especially a chronic and severe low power steering fluid level, can lead to increased friction and wear within the power steering gearbox assembly, a condition that can significantly shorten the operational life of the power steering gearbox and negatively affect its operation

Audi A4 1.9 TDI power steering oil type and capacity


Power steering fluid level checking:
- vehicle stationary
- front wheels in straight ahead position
- engine at normal operating temperature
- remove cap with dipstick from expansion tank and wipe off
- reinstall cap with dipstick and remove again
- fluid level between "min" and "max" markings
- top off with G 002 000 hydraulic oil if necessary
Power steering system capacity is around 1 liter, but it is not necessary to periodic change the hydraulic oil!
If oil level has dropped to the "min" marking, check power steering system, including hoses and lines.
It is not enough simply to top off the hydraulic oil !!!

Power steering went out along w/brakes


Does it have a hydroboost brake booster? Is the belt still on the p/s pump? Have you checked the power steering fluid level? If yes and good to all, replace the Power steering Pump.
