1998 ford windstar 3.8 Running hot, no coolant leaks ,water pump good . At highway speed gauge get very hot start to lose power . No water in oil . No steam from exhaust . No oil in coolant ?

Most serious item I see is oil pressure. Put a mechanical gauge on the engine and get an accurate reading. Also make sure that the passage to the sender isn't blocked. If you did the pump yourself, did you find any coolant in the oil? In 99% of all low oil pressure situations, the oil pump has not failed. Rather, either a cam bearing or crank/rod bearing is worn. You do not have to have one spun or completely worn out bearing. Even wear of all bearings that is somewhat excessive can bleed off enough pressure to cause problems (plastigage the engine bearings to determine wear).
As far as coolant loss. A cylinder head gasket can fail between cylinders, into a water passage, into an oil passage or any combination of those and externally as well. The cylinder heads on engines beginning in about '98 are prone to "micro-cracking" which can lead to all kinds of hard to diagnose coolant loss problems. It may help if you have a shop do a dye test and a hydrocarbon test on the cooling system and see what they find.
I have seen several kinds of block sealing systems available. Though I generally do not recommend them, as the longevity of the repair isn't predictable, you could try that as a option of last resort.
There is no quick easy solution to your problem but with a bit of "poking around" you may be able to cure it. Don't bother repairing one problem before finding out what the other one is first though as together, it might be smarter to replace the engine.

The performance of the heater indicates low coolant level. Pretty strange about the multiple water pumps, but if is is under warranty, you need to keep going back to the dealer. They must be missing something...

How much the leaking of water is? It is usually common to find some drops of water beneath the engine due to the working of AC components. If it is the coolant, your car might have a leak somewhere in the radiator, hoses or water pump. However, this will again cause the engine temp gauge to rise. The rough running engine could be due to number of reasons like, clogged fuel or air filter, injectors, MAF sensor, O2 sensor etc. It is better to first try inspecting the spark plugs for their proper functioning; this will bring down the problem a bit. Also, if there is a CEL blinking it is better to get the codes read.

My 99 aurora is running hot on the freeway,i'll changed my rad,water pump,and got my fan switch rerplace and done a combustion leak test just to see if i had exhaust gasses in my coolant...

Is the air dam at the bottom of the front of your car intact? If not it will definitely cause the engine to run hot at highway speeds since not enough cooling air will be passing through the radiator.

1998 Ford Windstar 3.8...a few problems... 1) drive belt keeps slipping off 2) smoking coming from under hood on side of engine where belt is, temp gauge not showing hot and smelling a bit like...

Hi, 1 & 2 sounds like you need a water pump.
3: probably the vehicle speed sensor has packed up.
4: could be a number of things, vacuum leak or maybe idle air control valve
5: replace switch.

I can provide specifics on any and all of these depending an what you want to tackle.
Why don't you replace the water pump first, as that may make it drivable. Would you like instructions for replacing the water pump?

96 ford windstar new engine has 1800 miles on it new water pump and gasket, new oil pump. Coolant is leaking from the bottom and cant really tell?

check the heater core supply/return lines. theres a steel tube which runs under the intake manifold which commonly rusts out.

Could be water pump, radiator, freeze plugs, hoses, ect. try and isolate the area by putting a piece of card board down on the ground and line up what is above it. Garages use a pressure tester on the cooling system to see where the leak is. I would guess water pump,or small bypass hose

Good Day,

Sounds like the thermostat is working properly, the only other cause for the valve/lifter noise could be the oil pump is not pumping enough oil up to the top of the motor. I suggest doing an oil change(if you haven'y aleready), be sure to flush several quarts through, after sitting for 5 years I'm sure the old oil is pretty sludgy, this well help rule out this possibilty. As far as the water pump goes, It either works or doesn't typically when they are on there way out the will leak from the gaskets. A bad head gasket would cause white smoke form the exhaust as coolant get's into the oil and is burned off, so I don;t hink this is the problem.

Please check the radiator it may be leaking or there may be hole in the coolant container or the sensor is defective get it checked ..................................
