It is under the hood on the psgr side of vehicle at the rear of the engine and near the firewall and under the alternator, real chore to get at. Need a Transmission Fluid Funnel To Put It In.
Do this refill when the car engine is cool. You do not want to get a burn.

If you dont have it already get a gm account so you can see all components. You will find that registration and logon page here
https://my.gm.com/na-gm/login/ There is a picture on page 6-27 and the procedure is outlined on the next page. The dipstick is on the underside of the cap.

For the brakes take it to an accredited brake shop and for the steering take it to an accredited steering and suspension shop. If they are not accredited then there is every chance that you will get ripped off.

good chance you have a leak in your break line. easy way to check is have someone press break while you look under the car. best position is just behind wheel look for fluid to spray out you will see a break line from the axel area to your wheel gl

My engine light just came on this morning but I am having a very hard time turning the steering wheel and it is making a strange sound when I try to turn the wheel.

Hi hope I can help.
First check the power steering pump fluid.
Also check your belt to the power steering. make sure it is not slipping.
After checking both of these and you still have a problem .
you will have to replace your power steering pump.
Hope this helps FixYa

WeMy power steering fluid was leaking I tool it to the shop they told me It was the pump so I brought a new pump and got It put in and now I still cant turn my steering wheel

HEY DO THIS,YOU NEED TO BLEED SYSTEM. TO BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.TO DO THIS.FILL THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR TO COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK.WAIT A FEW MINITES,FLUID LEVEL DROP ADD MORE FLUID UNTIL REACH COLD MARK ON THE DIP STICK..WAIT FEW MINUTES.START ENGINE LET IT RUN FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS.TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID ADD MORE FLUID.DO THIS UNTIL FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.SAFELY RAISE FRONT OF THE VECHICLE UNTIL FRONT WHEELS DONT TOUCH THE GROUND.START ENGINE UP.TURN THE STEERING WHEEL GENTLY FROM STOP TO STOP,CHECK THE RESERVOIR FLUID LEVEL LOOKS GOOD TURN OFF ENGINE LOWER VECHICLE .LOWER VECHICLE TO GROUND. LET VECHICLE SET FOR 2 MINUTES CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL.IF STILL LOW ADD LITTLE MORE.TO THE COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK. DONT OVER FILL BECAUSE FLUID LEVEL RISES WHEN IT GET HOT.WHEN DONE IF STEERING WHEEL STILL FEEL HARD TO TURN YOU SEE AIR BUBBLES IN FLUID THATS WHEN FLUID HAS A TAN LOOKING COLOR WAIT 5 MINUTES AND.REPEAT THE BLEEDING PROCESS. DONT DRIVE OR OPERATE VECHICLE ON HIGHWAY UNTIL POWER STEERING HAS NORMAL OPERATION.

Remove/replace power steering pump on a 2002 Olds alero. Works perfect-except whining noise-after I emptied/refilled the sump with new prestone power steering fliud!

Make sure that u get all the air out by turning the steering wheel from left to right.. And most important make sure the power steering fluid is for GM product.
Hope this helps..

Power steering is noisy

Often, noise in the power steering is the result of air trapped in the system. It can also come from contaminated or worn out fluid. If the fluid level in the power steering reservoir is low, the pump will tend to whine and/or chatter. First, check the fluid level. If it is low, there is a leak somewhere. Keep the fluid level up if you must drive it, or the power steering pump will be destroyed. Once you have determined there are no leaks, or repaired any leaks you have have found, the best solution is to remove as much fluid from the system as possible, and then refill it with fresh, clean fluid. There is a product called Lucas power steering stop leak (or somesuch) which is excellent for quieting power steering components and extending their life. Use 1/2qt to 1 qt of regular fluid first, and then the whole bottle of Lucas when refilling. Top off with regular fluid as needed. Be sure to check the fluid level again after letting the engine idle and turning the wheels back and forth several times, as some air will be purged from the system and the level may go down substantially.

My power steering pump makes a growling noise even when the car is idle. The noise is louder when I turn the steering wheel. The power steering fluid has gotten low a couple of times and gets foamy.

if gets low definitely a leak foam is pump mixing fluid with air roar is pump cavitation check lines or pump for leak keep fluid at recommended level air bound unit can cause steering difficulty and or failure if need have trained mech look into problem

I cant turn the wheel when turning corners .It was fine then i heard a loud noise then my steering was no longer working it took alot to turn the wheel to get home

sounds as if the power steering fluid is in need of a refilling or a hose has burst or a belt has broken open the hood and visually inspect these all 3 things first im quite sure it will be one of these or at worst the steering rack has need of attention but check these 3 areas 1st
