Question about 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
Tried cleaning the ground wire I changed the switch
Worse case scenerio, if it is electronic and not manual shift you might need to check your front axle module on the transfer case since it is electric the position sensor and the module work independently with the heat actuated pintle in the front axle first jack the front end up after you have applied the parking brake and chocked the rear wheels! Then with the engine off and key in the running position you can engage the four wheel drive in 4 hi or 4 lo when in gear the front axle should be hard to turn forward or back when in 2 hi your front tires will be free and easy to turn! Having a helper while under the vehicle you should hear the transfer case engage without the engine running you can also attempt to turn the front driveline by hand and if transmission is in park the driveline will not turn if it is in four hi and lo! If it is not working then the driveline will turn easily and the front wheel will be stationary not turning! Check your wires on the transfer case and the front axle for a good connection and broken wires a repair manual wiring schematic will help in knowing which wires go to what! I hope this helps? Good luck!

CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL VACUUM LINES IN THE VICINITY OF THE AXLE AND THE ACTUATOR ARE IN PLACE WITH NO TEARS.IF ANY OF THE LINES GOING TO THE AXLE ARE UNPLUGGED TRY A SMALL HOSE CLAMP. I HAD A V8 4WD TRAILBLAZER AND WHEN I LOCKED IT IN IT WOULD POP THE LINE OFF EVERY TIME,SORRY ITS NOT MUCH I HOPE IT HELPS
