What should I check to get heater working, had radiator flushed but still no heat. Is there a temp censor for the heater.

Why does my heater blow heat when I am running over 2k rpms?


Check the coolant level in the radiator. If the coolant gets low enough the heater is the first thing to stop working. If there is plenty of coolant and the temp gauge is get in up to the half way mark than it's possible the heater core is just about plugged up. Your local repair shop should be familiar with flushing the heater core. I have had many successful heater core flushes over the years and it can save you thousands. If the heater core is successfully flushed it may not be a bad idea to have the coolant flushed at the same time.

Hot heat at idle cool when driving


is there a chance that one of your heater hoses are clogged? or where they connect to the engine are clogged still? sounds like a clogged system. Cracked heater housing? Outside air bypassing the heater coil while driving?

If you flushed the coolant with the thermostat in, chances are you didn't flush the coolant. Regardless, it's easiest to check the controls inside first. Does the blower fan work? Does the air flow change from floor to vent, to dash as it's supposed to? Does the A/C change temps when knob is turned from cold to hot? Post results.

Sometimes my heat works but most of the time it just blows cold air.


Get your radiator and heater core flushed out, if this doesn't fix the issue then your contol damper is probably not functioning like it should. The heater core and radaitor should be able to get flushed at the same time and this is a good thing to do on occasion anyway. Have you check your engine thermostat? this could be the culprit if it is not closing and allowing the engine to heat up.

Heat is luke warm and coolant temp gauge not getting to operating tempature. installed a new thermostat with the valve up on the thermostat. removed the heater control valve to make sure it was functioning...


this is probibly a blockage in the radiator or water pump issue start by flushing the radiator,then check that water is flowing thru the radiator and water system.

Changed thermostat and flushed heater core heat is warm, not hot.. and temp. gauge works sitting still but goes down back to 0 when driving

Very little heat in cab,changed thermostat and flushed rad,little circulation in rad. heatercore?


opps clicked clarification .... -- run your engine up to operating temp . shut off engine and check your radiator by placing your hand on top - middle - and bottom, they should be the same temp , if not your radiator is plugged... (be careful not to burn yourself) .... also grab the heater hoses going through the firewall, if they are not the same temp feel you may also have a blocked heater core.

No heat


if engine temp is normal after running awhile. i would try to flush the heater core.(disconnecting the heater hoses from engine and flushing separately) ford cars and trucks have a "brown coolant" problem and the coolant will eventually clog heater core.

Car heater- normal car temp.blows heat for half minute then blows cold-any heat setting


you did check your coolant level right? Has anything been worked on as far as cooling system lately? Radiator, thermostat, rad cap, antifreeze changed/flushed?
