The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. The fuel tank will have to be removed to gain access to it since it is installed into the tank from an access plate in the top of the tank.

Wont start and no pressure in the fuel line. do i need a fuel pump? Its a 1998 ford explorer V8

Check the basics first: fuse(s), relay, look at any wiring going to fuel pump under vehicle and inspect for broken or damaged wire. If all else looks fine, then more than likely need a fuel pump.

Check the fuel pump relay connections, the Explorer is bad about connection corrosion at the relays, try unplugging it and sticking it back in. Hope this help, let me know.
