You will have excessive fuel pressure and most likely an overly rich fuel mixture as a result. Usually accompanied by hard starts, high idle, and/or black smoke from tailpipe.

Where is the fuel regulator located? And how can I tell if it's bad

Some fuel regulators are located in the tank as part of the fuel pump assembly. If the fuel pressure regulator has gone bad, it can leak fuel in the engine, contaminating the engine oil.

Symptoms of a bad regulator is:
Poor gas mileage.
Smell of gas in the engine compartment.
Fuel is leaking.
Black smoke coming out of the exhaust (tail pipe).
Failed emissions test.
Check engine light is on.

Why dont my engine get gas to start

If you've already changed your fuel filter then I would suspect a weak or inoperative fuel pump. To see if that is the problem you just need to do a fuel pressure check. You could also have a bad fuel pressure regulator. To check the regulator you disconnect the output/return line on your regulator with the engine off and then just turn the key on, do not start the engine. If the regulator is bad it will spray gas every where. If not no gas will come out once the correct fuel pressure is reached. Your fuel pump will just go off. Good luck.

1999 Silverado 5.3 v-8 just checked my fuel pressure regulater, when I took it off its full of gas ,and vacuum line smelled of gas also,is this normal or not let me know im in the house smelling it up...

The regulator is bad. The diaphragm inside it has ruptured, that's how gas gets inside-and is sucked into the engine through the vacuum line. Your mileage must have suffered considerably, often accompanied by black smoke out the exhaust.
Change the regulator, and you should be good...if the missus doesn't beat you up, lol.

2005 cavalier fuel pressure regulator

I doubt it is coming from the pressure regulator. The regulator should have a vac hose going to the manifold that would **** the gas into the engine and run very rich.
The short answer is YES that is very bad, but I wonder where the raw fuel is coming from.

I smell gas when driving my 97 land rover discovery. I do already know I need a fuel pump. Is the gas coming from too much being injected into the engine, thus leaking out because of the bad fuel pump?...

I know that if a fuel pressure regulator is bad it will emit the fuel smell under hood. but just be sure you have no fuel leaks in the fuel lines first. good-day !

Good day I would like to know why I burn a lot of ga I had the sparks plugs and wires changed

well, if your car is near 100,000 miles, some sensors have to be changed too, like the oxygen sensor, and temperature sensor, for best consumtion of gas.
and check the gas regulator, the presion gas must be 35 psi, if there is more than 50 psi, the regulator is bad, already.

I'm getting a lot of fuel vapor fumes inside the car. How do I know if its the solenoid? Will a bad solenoid effect gas mileage?

A bad fuel pressure regulator will.Pull vacuum line off of it and if fuel runs out of it than the diaphram in the regulator is bad.

No gas going through fuel pressure regulator on 1995 dodge carava

I doubt the regulator is bad, the fuel pressure regulator is after the injectors in the return stream to the tank, more likely it is the fuel pump.
