Question about 2007 GMC Yukon XL Denali

1 Answer

Why is the battery at 15 amps in idle and the battery light is on.

I just bought this from Car Max and it was running fine for a day or so and now the battery light is coming on when I am at a stop sign or just in Park. We checked the Amps on it while idling and it is making the machine go all over the place. From 12 to 14 to 15 to 13 and so on! I have 5 days return this vehicle and have read MANY problems with the battery and drains from it. I just traded in a vehicle that had electrical problems...HELP!

I have a 30 day warranty 100% coverage. Is this not something they can fix? I have nothing else to drive now.

2004 Nissan Altima 3.5L BATTERY LIGHT went on during 15 minute drive. Next day car "died" while idling after a 20 minute drive. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT & BATTERY LIGHT on prior to full electrical failure.

Start with checking the alternator voltage with a multimeter. With the car off check the voltage in the battery which should be holding 12v charged less if flat of course then start the car and test the battery again. If the alternator is good you should be getting a reading of 14 to 14.5 v if it's the alternator it'll A) not put any charge into the battery or B) be a very low voltage being anything under 13.5 v

I had the car in storage for 35 days. Upon startup, battery was dead. I took the dead battery out(only 1 year old) and put in a good battery which started the car, while the car was running good I took out...

You recycle the old dead battery

Have no idea why you even put that back in

Common sense & your friend is correct

You don't disconnect anything on today's
vehicles, even with the key on

Put in a new battery, start the car, warm it up
& drive it for awhile & maybe you will get lucky
& it will complete some of the drive cycles & run some
monitors ,you know nothing about & it will be fine

If not, your mechanic friend should be about to stop
by with the bosses scan tool & help you out

Not starting looking for reasons. dash lights come on and cd player stops for no reason. Last time car started it died right a way then did'nt start again. I changed the starter and the battery is nearly...

it realy sounds like you have knocked the battery flat try to recharge it for a fuw days on a home charger off the car if poss if not poss that should still charge up but it takes a little longer to fully recharge the battery up but it will take at least two or three dayes to fully recharge it the way to work it out how long it should take is this,,,a 40amp hour battery will take 10 hours to recharge at 4 amps thats its max charge too?
or devide the amp hour by 10,,,ie: 60amp takes at 4 amp =15 hours charging,,,but it can be charged at 6 amps then its only 10 hours,,, i know,,,boring huh?

Volvo 240 wont hold charge

if with the volt meter the amps go down while running and at increased rpms than your alternator is not charging right

Is it my battery?

well this is what you should try ,,jump the car get it running
then when its warmed up take the positive lead of the battery
if the car stops the alternator is gone (thats what charges the battery) if the car runs its fine

and if u have put another new battery in it and the alternator is fine look for any broken wires earths or positives that could be making it drain so quick
and make sure your battery levels are full
hope this helps
