Try to spin the impeller with a screw driver if it is accessible. if not unplug it and take it apart and spin the impeller to free it up. clean all the gunk out while you are in there. put it back together and plug it in. don't let it hum with out pumping it will burn up.

What is the short hum i hear after trying to start the car and doesn't start

It's usually the fuel pump, which goes off once the fuel pressure is primed, but without hearing your vehicle, I can't confirm this.

I took my 2001 Kia Sportage to the dealership for all new belts and a new oil pan. 60 miles later pullie froze blown head, no oil in upper engine? could their repair cause this???

Timing Belt Replacement & No new water pump & No new
idler pulleys ----while in there?

If the pulley's seize & belt comes off & if it is an interference
engine --- you can kiss the valves & most likely the heads goodby

The Water Pump can do the same thing, wobble or seize

Why a new Oil Pan, run over something?

What belts?
Why the oil pan?

Would like more detail

Don't think their that incompetent, but who knows
who was put on the job

I only recommend a dealer for warranty work,NEVER
anything else,UNLESS your local shop doesn't have or
want to do updates, then the dealer.

Anyone with a scan tool can buy the flash program module
& a one day ,three day,one month etc subscription for updates
to the PCM (computer)

Why won't the fuel pump shut off

Fuel pump won't be the cause. Most likely the relay.

1994 corvette bad Gas ?????

Try a little starting fluid in the intake (not too much, just enough to test). If it takes off for a second or so, may be water in gas. Ten months old? It should be alright, unless it's loaded with water.

I assume it's the 3.8 V6? They are notorious for intake gasket problems. The fan problem could be a few things, fuse, relay, ECT (electronic coolant temp sensor), ECM, Do the fans come on when you run the A/C? Hope this gives you some ideas. Let me know a little more and I'll try to help. TJ

From what you describe, it sounds like your water pump is not circulating the water. But it doesn't sound like you have a blown head gasket or a cracked block at this point. But if you continue to drive the car, that could change.

Do you seem to have good circulation through the radiator normal? Sometimes, the radiator will get gunked up, and then very little coolant can get through it. Which is a possibility, but I would still suspect the water pump first.

Have you had the water pump replaced yet? Could possibly be the water pump making noise because it's about to go.
