Question about 2007 Hummer H3

1 Answer

I have a 2007 H3. When I turn tight corners going very slow it feels like the truck is in Low 4. It is grabbing. No noises and it is fine turning any other time or speed.

HAVE THE FRONT END CHECKED. THERE ARE STOPS TO PREVENT THE WHEELS FROM TURNING TO FAR. THESE MAY BE MISSING

Posted on Dec 09, 2014

Testimonial: "Thank you - will check that out. Do you think it could be possible that the switching unit needs replaced and the truck is in High 4 even though the light on unit does not indicate that. When I try to switch it back & forth the light flashes when going into High 4 before a solid light. When I switch it back it does not flash just changes to a solid light on all wheel drive. Does that make sense."

SOURCE: 2007 H3 hummer,When turning corners

Hi, if it feels like it is binding when turning, and there is some feedback in the steering wheel, it is stuck in four wheel hi lock. Try shifting it to four wheel hi lock, and see if anything changes. The transfer cases were manufactured with a plastic mode fork, and that can wear over time. Once it wears, it no longer can keep the case in four wheel open, and what your feeling is the front wheels trying to spin at one with the rear. On surfaces with some slippage, you notice this as traction. On surfaces with grip, you notice it as scrubbing. The front tires in turns, spin at different speeds as one another, and together spin at a different propshaft speed as the rear. Four wheel open range is about a 60/40 split front/rear, in four high lock it is 50/50.

SOURCE: 2007 h3 hummer rough or low idle runs fine on open road

My dealer finally found the problem on my 2008 H3. It was misfiring cylinder 1. The coil was bad so they replaced the plug and coil and its not back to normal. there was actually water (moisture) in the coil and spark plug. I have seen on other forums that this is a known problem. Also had the injectors flushed and it runs great now.

My 2007 h3 Will be driving fine until I go to turn or stop at a light then it idles all the way down to zero shutters and shuts off. What could possibly be going on with my baby?

Your baby cannot hold an idle. Maybe it is set too low and that is what is causing it to shut down when you take your foot off the gas.

Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-02-32-001O (Section 02 - Steering). Condition Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from the front of the vehicle while driving during a turning maneuver.

1. Locate a large area (parking lot) where the vehicle can be turned in a tight circle. 2. Turn the steering wheel to the right and/or left all the way to the steering lock, then off the steering lock a 1/4 turn. 3. Drive the vehicle approximately 5 km/h (3 mph) in a circle, preferably over rough pavement or seams on the road surface. 4. Drive the vehicle straight ahead at idle speed while applying and releasing the brake pedal. Listen/feel the steering wheel for the clunk/noise condition. 5. If a clunk is felt in the steering wheel, the MOST likely cause is the I-shaft - not the steering gear. Continue with the correction. Correction DO THIS - Replace the intermediate shaft DON'T DO THIS - DO NOT lube the intermediate shaft Replace the existing intermediate shaft

Locating the voltage regulator located on 2007 Hummer H3?

I don't have a shop manual for a Hummer.
But GM trucks built in 2007 use something other than the alternator to control voltage. Sometimes its called a generator control module and sometimes it is inside the body computer or the ECM.
You may need to check with someone who specializes in Hummers for the answer.

Clunking noise when turning steering wheel going slow around corner

A lot of these Chrysler Town and Country vans had issues with the front stabilizer bar end links, usually you wont feel them move if you try to move them by hand, but they will make an awful noise clunk noise when turning or going over bumps slowly, i would suggest replacing the end links and that should take car of your clunking issue. Also the front lower control arm bushings separate as well and can cause this noise as well.... but i would replace the end links as a first step and go from there.... Hope this helps..

I would start by having the drive belt checked for wear then getting a wheel alignment done. These camrys do have quite a stiff feeling in the steering, though if it feels quite tight I would have it checked out to see if there is a problem in the rack.

Not sure if the hubs are engaging?

Well, the best way is to place the vehicle on a hoist and raise all 4 wheels off the ground and put it in 4WD and see if all the wheels start turning.

Another way is to make a really sharp (slow) turn while the unit is in 4 wheel high or 4 wheel low on dry pavement. You should be able to feel the driveline wrap-up caused by the front wheels trying to grab during the hard turn.

4 Low should be easily distinguishable from 4 High as well as 2 Whl when you accelerate and it feels like the transmision is stuck in low gear and the engine starts screaming for mercy at high RPM and you are only doing 30 MPH.
