SOURCE: Airbag code 32 fix?

If you replaced the airbags, it might be that the code just needs to be turned off. I had the same thing with mine, sometimes the code is not turned off after replacement.

On a 3.2 TL Acura, the "SRS" Indicator Light stays on after the engine starts. What codes will be indicated when I try and read the codes?

THE SRS means Air bag sensor and trigger ..

Simply put the SRS light tells you that the sensor cant connect to the trigger of your airbag namely the one locate in the steering wheel. This is beacause of a device known as a clock spring located in the steering. Its moves like a clock and allows the sensor and bag to get connection but sometimes the coil wires get broken.

To fix this take it to a SHOP.
reasons for that.

the fix involves. (REMOVE BATTERY)
1.) remove the steering wheel using the lock bolt and key
2.) unblot and remove then unlock the clock spring
3.) replace,
4.) recalibrate and reset spring
5.) reset error codes
6.) reassemble
7.) reset error codes.

The SRS is your "air bag" or "Safety Restraint System". The potential for an injury is a problem. The system needs to be scanned by a professional and repaired. Common items to fail are clock spring which could be diagnosed by no horn or usually any other steering wheel controls not working. Another could be the front crash sensor. Once it is scanned the code can be used to track or trace the circuit leading to a fix. See a trusted technician in your area that is good on SRS/airbag systems and get the code. If you wish to get a second opinion as to the repair needed, let me know. I will be happy to help.

has a fault with the srs and will not deploy with that light on in an accedent you must get it fixed you need to pull the diagnisic codes from the srs module can be a few things most likely knocked the connector off the seat belt pretensioner with a book or something down the side of the seat or its the clock spring assembly underneath the steering wheel is it noisey when you turn the steering wheel like a scrapping noise plastic on plastic??

My friend changed the motor in his 97 chev venture van a 3400sfi and the air bag light in the dash is now on, how does he get rid of it, code reader or ????????????

its possible he left a wire unplugged,or he damaged the clock spring if he removed the steering shaft from the rack he might have broke the clock spring in the steering shaft, run it by advance auto and have them clear the code,if the light doesnt stay out then he needs to check under the hood to see what the problem is

SRS Problem Continued

the SRS light is for your airbags. The light means there's a fault with the airbag system. This means the airbags may not deploy in a crash, or may deploy suddenly. have it checked out right away

2001Acura RL 3.5 SRS problems

As you already know The Supplemental Restraint System (or SRS) is the system that controls your airbags. Unfortunately, there are MANY things that trigger this annoying light, and to making it go away can cause plenty of headaches.

Things that can cause the SRS light to turn on include:

  • Letting battery drain too low
  • Bad Sensor
  • Blown fuse
  • Unplugging the car’s battery
  • Removing the gauge cluster/installing aftermarket gauges
  • G-Force sensors that are under each of the front fenders ($250.00 each)
  • Bad clock spring (located inside your steering wheel)
  • Bad ECU
  • Bad reverse light switch on transmission
  • Car was in an accident (which is not the problem in your case)
  • Airbag defective/unplugged
  • To fix this problem, some have gone to the dealership to have the SRS computer reset. Unfortunately, this costs somewhere around $70.00..... Another option is to invest in a OBD2 Code Reader US $32.94+ on ebay most of the time the cause of this light is something simple like changing out the battery. but that could have set the code off if you reset the computer this will shut the light off and the system will be fine and save yourself a couple of grand
The Car Scanner Trouble Code Reader is for real-time automotive diagnosis based on the OBD2 protocol. By simply plugging it into your vehicles diagnostic socket, you will be able to Read any trouble codes related to the "Check Engine Light" and identify the code by consulting the manual. It will also Erase or Reset the Check Engine light. this should tell you wich sensors are out or giving a faulty signal if you do not wish to invest in an obd2 code reader call you local autozone or advance auto parts and ask if they do free obd2 readings most do and they sell the parts you are most likely going to need I hope this helps ...............good luck

My problem is SRS light was always on.i remoove the steering wheel before after that when i back the steering wheel SRS light always on. pls help me.

The most common cause of an air bag warning light on your model car is the "clock spring" has failed. A clock spring is available at most national auto parts chain stores and of course any Honda dealer. There is no danger the bag will go off, but it may malfunction in an accident. The clock spring is the enclosed device inside the steering column just below the steering wheel. It is the device that allows one to turn the steering wheel and have a circuit that remains intact to deploy the drivers side air bag (if triggered) regardless of the clocked position of the steering wheel. If you are not comfortable replacing inflatable restraint systems parts, I recommend you go to a qualified independent mechanic in your area. On post-1996 cars and trucks, you should be able to hook up an OBD II scanner and get the fault codes. If you get a code that indicates Driver-Side Air Bag Circuit - High Resistance or Open in Circuit, that code would refer to the clock spring. If you need help with the codes and what they mean, just come back here and we will try our best to help. Good luck and let us know if you have any follow up questions!
