Any power steering (belt direct or electrical driven ) that is hard to steer indicates a fault in the pump. In this case check the power circuit and then pump controls. Take it to a accredited steering specialist shop and check the fluid level as well.

SOURCE: The power steering light is on in my 2007 Pontiac G5 Coupe

  • You have Electric Power Steering (EPS) not the traditional power steering pump. So there is no place to put power steering fluid in your vehicle.

  • Hope this helps.

I suspect the belt is lose. Its probably not turning water pump or the power steering pump. You car has an electric cooling fan, but it still won't cool if the pump isn't circulating the water through the radiator. Should be easy to tell. Just look under the hood with the engine running and have someone turn the wheel. You should be able to see, hear and or smell if the belt is slipping
