Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Hi. It's raining and MT - 03 starts normally. After 200 meters it starts doing those vacuums like the ignition Is not happening and then the engine stops/cuts off. By the way I have a brand new battery. So I try to open it on second gear while still having speed but nothing. I go home I bring my red key, I try it and the engine starts again normally!!! I wait a little bit.. I hop on my bike, put the first gear and as I'm about to leave it stops working again. Never started with any of the keys.

Seems like a motorcycle question. Posted in wrong section, but my guess is bad ignition switch.

SOURCE: dead battery

It could be a defective ignition switch as well (it has a disabling circuit) thinking the vehicle is stolen. The dealer has the equipment to see if is throwing a code for that.

SOURCE: car wont start. turn key, nothing happens. lights, dash radio all work. No noise at all from trying to start engine. Wait 6 or more hours and it starts like nothing's wrong. It has done this 4 tim

When this happens, move the Gear Selector lever a bit. It has a Neutral Safety switch that may be slightly out of adjustment

When i mash my brakes on the 03 escalade esv 6.0 and start my engine i can feel the brake pedal jerk under my foot is this normal

Yes, when your engine starts, it is providing either vacuum or power steering pressure to your brake assist system. Vacuum if vacuum system or power steering pressure in a hydroboost system, which ever your vehicle has. Either way it is normal.

When I jump in my car in the mornings (cold engine) and turn on the key (without starting the engine) the cooling fans come on (outside temp is only 60 degrees).

-No not to worry about it if your car never over head.
-No you can't get any reading if the temperature is at your thermostat's setting or below.
-It connect or (Works) ONLY when the temperature at that area reach above the thermostat setting or up to 200 degree or higher.

Good luck

Why would engine stumble just after start up?

With so little information reaching a solution is not likely.Does the fault happen every time the engine starts or only the first time? Does the engine run normal after the stumble? If it stumbles after every start a vacuum leak could be the cause. if it stumbles when first started turn it off and restart. If it starts as normal on restart. There is only one reason The coolant temperature sensor has failed. when this happens there will be a strong odor of gasoline. The computer meters fuel based on the signal it gets from the temperature sensor. when there is no signal it meters maximum fuel causing a slow rough first start and poor fuel milage.

Jeep just lost power steering and would not restart as we were driving down the road, it was raining, radio still worked and you could still turn the jeep on but it will not turn over.

Both power steering and power brakes depend upon the engine to be running to work.
"Turning over" is what happens when you turn the key and the engine turns. (your starter turns the engine so it can start...it does not actually start it)
If it does that (turns) and the engine isn't starting, it could be something as simple as wet ignition wires or coil, but can be many other things as well. (wires can be wiped down with a rag and wd40 or dried off with a hair dryer. Make sure the inside of the distributor cap is dry as well (if you have one)).
The rain may have something to do with it, or it just happened to be raining when it stopped. You need to check that the battery is fully charged and that you are getting spark, air and fuel into the engine. Then, whichever is missing is what you need to find the reason why it's not there.
In any computer controlled system, to find a problem, you will need a haynes or chilton manual and a decent multi-meter to do testing with.
Guessing will usually cost you more than buying both.
You can check the items I outlined without any complicated tools etc. so, do that first.
Also make sure the drivebelt on the engine is still there. If it is gone, the battery will discharge and of course, it won't start.
If you need further help after you get into testing, just ask.

Car stalls when at a stop. Has only happened at

Check the state of your engine's ignition system. Normally, rough running in the rain or during hours of high humidity indicates a worn/damaged ignition distributor or associated components.

My 03' vw gti won't start. it has a normal crank but doesn't start. this problem doesnt happen all the time, only sometimes. every once in a great while.

does it occur mainly after a rain or washing of the vehicle / and it may also be a feature that some vehicles have that will not allow it to start when such things as low oil is sensed or other fluid levels ...or perhaps a wire is jarred just enough {an exposed wire }to touch ground causing this as well or maby a cracked or dry rotted vacuum line is an issue ..even a loose fuse check these areas as well .......and look for anything just obvious disconnected corroded or otherwise .....hope this helps you

Starting my car when it rains...doesn't happen, why?

i did have problems with my car not starting in the rain. after changing the distributor cap and HT leads it still. My last thing to try before taking it in was to change the ignition coil. I ordered a new and installed it and it started right up! it has rain a couple times since then and it's still starting! so i'm hoping it keeps working. hope this helps anyone.
