Question about Cars & Trucks

My 2006 RR HSE- battery went dead after few days in garage. Tried jump start per manual but would not start even everything lights on (gadgets/instruments). I am afraid to ask if it is the alternator

Jump start.

Do a visual inspection of battery; should be clean, no cracks or leaks, cable clamps on terminals should be tight and not loose. If you have a loose clamp that will not tighten and you're far from help, try shimming the space between the loose fitting clamp and the battery terminal with a folded strip of chewing gum wrapper, the metal foil and paper kind. A better fix is a small (~1/2 inch) section of 1/2" copper tubing - use tin snips to cut the side so it will fit on your battery terminal before installing the cable clamp. Most major auto parts stores will check your battery, alternator, and possibly a few other electric items for free; just call them ahead to verify which shops in your area will do these tests without removing anything from your car. Hope this helps. GBYAA!!!

Nope !
Pull the lights on (high lights!) or push the horn with the ignition on: they light up OK ? Horn Works ? Then is not the charging system or the Battery
If not you actually have to pull the battery an charge it . And the attempt to start. If nothing, then look on the fuse box: is any one listed as IGN ? if yes, check the continuity or even better, swich it with another one of the same rating !

2004 chrysler pacifica no power even after jump

check for a bad connection like a bad ground at the battery, make sure both terminals are tight at the battery, the starter and the ground at the engine. the shop that installed the EGR should have erased the codes, after 50 to 100 miles you would be able to go through emissions.

Sounds like a dead battery, loose or dirty battery cable connections.

2006 Toyota Rav 4-My battery went from fine to dead in :45. Help.

Answering your questions in order:
  1. No, there's no such device to prevent the car from starting; a battery that requires a jump start would require more than 5 minutes running time to recharge. The battery needs to be charged to work again, (unless it has a dead cell, inexpensive battery testers will confirm). A jump start is still possible but wouild require leaving the jumper cables on for at least 15-30 minutes to provide enough of a charge to start the Rav again. Charging on a battery charger is preferable.
  2. Yes; short trips and lack of use will kill a battery over time.
  3. Yes; Here is a link to the basics of checking a charging system http://www.aa1car.com/library/charging_checks.htm
In summary, most should get more than 3 years out of their battery. You've already determined that the acid levels in the battery are good (most don't even check for fluid levels). Constant charging and discharging will kill a battery and this isn't apparent in your case.
If a battery charger isn't handy, try hooking up the jumper cables and leave the other car running for at least 15 minutes. I hope this answers your questions. Best of luck.

Car is completely dead, like somebody shot it dead! No sounds, no light, can't shift out of park into neutral or anything....everything completely dead...no warning whatsoever!

Always clean the battery terminals before jumping. An extremely dead battery may not accept a jump as it serves as a 'buffer" instead of helping. If you do get it started, charge battery with a battery charger then have alternator and battery tested for proper operation and check belt condition and tension as well.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)
