You may have a broken or loose vacuum line. Another cause could be a bad IAC motor. If you have a "check engine" light, you may need a scanner to help you locate the exact problem. Don't forget to make sure that your throttle cable isn't binding and not allowing the throttle blade to close all the way.

Check your car's error codes for anything you might have missed. the last time I had that problem, the knock sensor had also gone out due to a spark plug wire leak that had also done a number on the computer.

clean the idler on the intake and also clean the throttle sensor, it would also be best to change the air filter and clean the maf sensor. Idler does more than just idle vehicle it controls low revs, and drop down from reves. throttle sensor tell ecu what air to add to the fuel. and the MAF tells ecu how much air is coming into the intake. also check for broken cracked vacuum lines.

I have a 98 Buick Park Ave Ultra. It's a slight

If the light is on the engine computer will have a trouble code or codes, which may help you towards solving the problem. Have the computer scanned for the codes. Go from there. Good luck.

2001 buick park ave high idle

First thing i would do is take the idle air control valve off and clean the carbon off of it and inside the throttle body using a non-chlronated brake cleaner. Then reset the computer with a code reader or a scan tool then start it and if problem still exists take the mass air flow sensor off and spray the thin wires inside the sensor with the same brake cleaner then let it dry for 15 minutes and re-install.Reset computer then start motor.
