I recently replaced the knock sensor on my 94 Chevrolet Silverado C3500 and the engine is still running rough. I adjusted the idle on the tbi and disconnected the throttle position sensor the truck ran fine until I put the breather cap back on. What could cause this lack of power and stall out? I have literally replaced everything I can think of from gaskets to vacuum lines and everything in between.

Wow you have replaced a lot of stuff. Lets go back to the Fuel pump. When you replaced it did you replace the hose between the pump and the sending unit. These are common for splitting. Have you hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to check what pressure you have? It should be real close to 13 psi and should raise to at least 18 or 19 when you pinch off the return line.

How are the O2 sensors? Any trouble codes stored? You can get a free code read at most auto parts stores.

O2 sensors usually don't set codes though.

My 1999 454 idles rough but runs fine at higher rpm's What is the problem?


Possibly wrong plugs,incorrect timing. My 94 5.7 TBI ran rough and found that the spark plugs were incorrect for my engine settings.

94 tbi starts but dies unless u pump the gas it runs rough


This could be a whole range of problems from lack of fire to engine to a bad fuel pump or pressure regulator in the TBI but if all of that is good then check the Cat. converter to make sure it is not plugged or the muffler. As I have 1994 Chev Silverado myself I know you can pull the 02 sensor out ahead of the cat. and it should run better not well but better. It will relieve the back pressure to the engine.

There's two knock sensor's, and there under the in-take, on top og the engine, when the knock sensor detects a knock on the engine block, it will send a signal to your compute to adjust the engine timing.

94 Saturn sl1 tbi, started running rough. Changed the plug`s it still no better. It dies if i turn on the air. Lack of power.


Change your ECTS sensor with a brass one, it's the water temp sensor you can buy it at auto zone for 8 dollars and replace it yourself, make sure you get a NEW wire plug harness for it probably about 10 or 15 bucks, it gets corroded then the computer reads the wrong engine temp then it makes the idle rough and run rich.

When it runs really rough is there alot of black smoke? Could be the fuel pressure regulator diaphram, real easy to change on that TBI...
