Air flap or mode actuators should be located on lower drivers side (slightly up and right of gas pedal) and lower left (slightly left of glove compartment). Research YouTube for removal/installation videos. Good luck.

{: ) The popping sound you heard is caused by the sudden movement of an HVAC door, most probably coming from the recirculation door actuator (right dashboard area) or the mode actuator( mid dashboard area). The fan outputs could be normally working, but is being muffled by the incorrect positioning of the HVAC doors, giving an impression that there is fault in the blower controls. In other words, your vehicle is having an air distribution issue.
If there's no conflict in your climate settings, then the trouble may be in the HVAC doors binding or broken, or the actuators faulty or sticking. In both cases, servicing may involve removal of the dashboard to access these HVAC components.

More than likely stepper motor that operates door is defective. Try tapping on module that controls the door. Dash control may be defective you need a DVM to check electrical power at these outlets, do not use 12 volt test light.

2004 GMC Envoy SLT 4.2L the engine will crank but want start why?

P1516 = Throttle Actuator Position Performance
P2101 = Throttle Actuator "A" Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance

Both of these codes indicate a problem with your throttle position actuator system. I'm not sure how GMC/Chevy treat this, it's possible that if the PCM/ECM will not allow the engine to start if the throttle actuator is not working properly (it may cause the engine to accelerate rapidly when running). You could try replacing the throttle actuator, but that may not solve the problem if it's a wiring issue. Best to have it checked out by a qualified mechanic.

2004 GMC Envoy SLT, had to install a new battery. Prior to installation, dual air was working fine, now passenger's 2 vents are blowing hot air while dirver's side is cold. Need help

It is likely that one or more of the blend doors or their actuators are stuck. Before any repair action is done, try allowing the HVAC system to recalibrate itself. To do this, turn all HVAC controls and switches to their OFF or CCW postions, then disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery, but do not touch any of the HVAC controls or switches for about 2 -3 minutes. If this does not cure the problem, the HVAC system will need to be diagnosed. Access to the blend doors and actuators may require some disassembly of the center dash area.

Air wont blow out of upper vents, only dash and floor

I had the same exact problem happen with my 2004 GMC Envoy a few months ago. I took it in and had to replace the motor that controlled the flap that controlled the air going to defroster, feet, and face vents. the actual motor was only $100, but they had to remove the whole dash and it was an all day job. cost me a couple hundred to get fixed. it has worked great ever since!
