Tbc dash light meaning for honda


Hello,
I don't know of a TBC light for Honda but there is a TDC... If that's what you meant to type. Its the "Top Dead Center" sensor

The TDC (top dead center) positioning sensor is another name for your crankshaft position sensor. This sensor measures the position of your crankshaft and helps with the proper firing of your spark plugs when you start your engine. The TDC sensor on the '97 Honda Accord is located on the underside of the engine block. Replacement TDC sensors can be purchased at your Honda dealership. This is not a difficult repair and can be done in about 15 minutes.

place engine on TDC by putting crankshaft balancer groove in line with timing cover pointer slot this is located between water pump and power steering pump then remove cap mark rotor pointer location for install indexing then remove drive pin onshaft that hold drive gear on mark gear to put on the same way remove shaft replace sensor reassemble

97 honda civic wont start,got fuel,spark,compresion,new timing belt,its in time,new spark plugs,new distributor cap,new crankshaft position scensor


I would suggest to get a propane torch and turn on with out lighting it (flame less) Place in intake port to manifold crank and see if starts. this will let you know if injectors are cycling or not. This engine has Three sensors that keep the engine running crank,TDC,cam. The TDC and CAM are in the distributor and crank is behind timing belt cover.

How do I fix a Interruption in TDC #1 sensor circuit problem on a 2001 Honda Civic? THe code is P1361 and P1362


P1361 is a misfire code, and P1362 is a TDC sensor (or crankshaft position sensor) code. The known possible repair is to replace the crankshaft position sensor. You may have to ask for a tdc sensor as some parts providers follow the mfr's part name.

Alt way to locate #1 cyl at TDC for belt timming without removing distributor cover or # 1 sprk plug and still be on the right stroke?


TDC stands for "Top Dead Center". This is when the piston is at the very top of its travel and there is no place for it to go but down. If you are trying to get a timing belt in time, all you have to do is align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley with the TDC mark on the timing belt cover. If you are replacing a timing belt, this should be done AFTER removing the crankshaft pulley bolt and BEFORE removing the pulley and timing cover, otherwise you will have to put the timing cover and crankshaft pulley back on to do this. To get your "stroke" that you are asking about, you have to align the camshaft pulleys with the corresponding marks on the No. 3 timing cover. (See pictures)

PATH: Engine Mechanical > Engine Mechanical Components > Timing Belt & Sprockets > Removal & Installation Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Position crankshaft so that No. 1 piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC).
  3. Remove the splash guard.
  4. If equipped, remove the cruise control actuator.
  5. Loosen and remove the power steering pump drive belt.
  6. Remove the two bolts that attach the top power steering hose to the power steering pump. Cover and seal the hose and the open port of the pump.
  7. Clamp shut the power steering reservoir return hose, remove it from the return line, and remove the power steering pump and reservoir as an assembly.
  8. Remove the remaining accessory drive belts. Refer to Section 1 for specific details.
  9. Place a piece of wood between the oil pan and the jack, support the engine with a jack.
  10. Remove upper engine bracket.
  11. Remove the valve cover.
  12. Make sure the engine is at Top Dead Center (TDC) for No. 1 cylinder. The engine is at TDC for No. 1 cylinder when:
    • The white Top Dead Center (TDC) mark on the crankshaft pulley is aligned with the raised pointer.
    • The UP marks on both camshaft sprockets are at the topmost (12 O'clock) position.
    • The holes in the No. 1 exhaust and intake cam journals align with the holes in the camshaft. A 4.5 mm or 5/32inch drill bit or Allen key can be placed through the holes to prevent the cams from rotating while removing or installing the cam belt.
  13. Remove the crankshaft pulley. For details, see crankshaft pulley removal in this section.
  14. Remove the timing belt covers.
  15. Loosen the adjusting bolt 1/2-1 turn. Release the tension from the belt by pushing on the tensioner, then retighten the adjusting bolt.
  16. Remove the timing belt.

To install:

  1. Be sure the timing marks are properly aligned.
  2. Install the timing belt around the crankshaft sprocket and then stuff a clean rag or paper towel between the belt and the sensor guard to hold the belt engaged with the sprocket teeth.
  3. Place the flat side of the belt clockwise around the top of the tensioner and then engage the toothed portion of the timing belt counterclockwise around the bottom of the water pump sprocket.
  4. Carefully pull the timing belt upward but do notmove the crankshaft. If the crankshaft moved, carefully realign the crankshaft timing belt sprocket with the TDC marks. Carefully engage the teeth of the timing belt onto the exhaust camshaft sprocket, but only install the belt about 1/3 of the way onto the sprocket.
  5. Grasp the timing belt on the toothed side and gently lift the belt enough to begin sliding it onto the intake camshaft sprocket.
  6. Once the belt has started to slide onto the intake camshaft sprocket, slide the belt equally onto both the intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets.
  7. Quickly loosen and then retighten the timing belt tensioner bolt.
  8. Remove the tools from the camshaft caps used for securing the camshafts, and remove the cloth used to keep the timing belt engaged in the crankshaft sprocket.
  9. Apply a clockwise load on the intake camshaft sprocket bolt to remove any slack between the intake camshaft sprocket, exhaust camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft timing belt sprocket, then loosen and retighten the timing belt tensioner adjusting bolt to allow tension to be applied to the belt.
  10. Install the crankshaft pulley sprocket/timing belt guide washer.
  11. Install the lower and upper timing covers.
  12. Install the crankshaft pulley and tighten the bolt to 130 ft. lbs. (177 Nm).

    WARNING

    If any binding is felt when adjusting the timing belt tension by turning the crankshaft, STOP turning the engine, because the pistons may be hitting the valves.

  13. Rotate the crankshaft about 5-6 times counterclockwise to seat the timing belt.
  14. Position the No. 1 piston to TDC.
  15. Locate and remove the rubber plug for the timing belt tensioner on the lower timing belt cover.
  16. Loosen the adjusting bolt 1/2 turn by
  17. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise 3 teeth on the camshaft pulley.
  18. Tighten the adjusting bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54Nm).
  19. Retighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 130 ft. lbs. (177 Nm).
  20. Install the valve cover.
  21. Install the engine mounting bracket, then remove the jack.
  22. If removed, install the cruise control actuator.
  23. Install the accessory drive belts.
  24. Install the splash guard.
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26. Check the engine operation and road test.

WARNING

Never allow antifreeze, oil or solvents to come into with a timing belt. If this occurs immediately wash the solution from the timing belt. Also, never excessive bend or twist the timing belt; this can damage the belt so that its lifetime is severely shortened.

  1. Remove the drive belt and timing cover.
  2. Raise the car and support it with safety stands.

  4. Align the timing marks as illustrated in the accompanying illustration.
  5. Refer to the accompanying illustration and remove the timing belt as follows:
    1. Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt (1).
    2. Use an 8mm Allen wrench, and turn the tensioner (2) counterclockwise 1⁄4 turn.
    3. Insert a 1⁄8 inch drill bit in the hole (3) to lock the belt tensioner in place.

    5. Inspect the belt for damage and signs of oil leakage. To install: NOTE: Install the timing belt over the sprocket in a counterclockwise direction starting at the crankshaft. Keep the belt span between the crankshaft and camshaft tight when installing the belt over the camshaft.
  6. Install the timing belt and remove the drill bit.
  7. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 15–22 ft. lbs. (20–30 Nm).
  8. Rotate the engine two complete revolutions and make sure the timing marks are aligned.
  9. Install the timing belt cover and crankshaft pulley.
  10. Install the right-hand splash shield and the drive belt.
  11. Start the car and check for proper operation.
DOHC ENGINE NOTE: A camshaft alignment timing tool (No. T94P-6256-CH or equivalent) and a crankshaft Top Dead Center (TDC) timing peg tool (No. T97P-6000-A or equivalent) are required for this procedure.   1. Remove the spark plugs.
  2. Rotate the crankshaft to TDC.
  3. Locate and remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (refer to the illustration) and install the TDC timing peg. Fig. 15: Remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and install the TDC timing peg 90983g70.gif

  4. Raise the car and support it with safety stands.
  5. Unfasten the splash shields bolts and remove the shield.
  6. Lower the car and remove the water pump pulley.
  7. Remove the valve cover and the timing belt covers.
  8. Align the camshafts and install the camshaft alignment tool on the back of the camshafts as illustrated. Fig. 16: Align the camshafts and install the alignment tool 90983g76.gif
    WARNING
    If the camshaft belt is being reused, mark the direction of the camshaft belt to the rotation of the camshaft prior to removal, or premature wear and belt failure could occur.
  9. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and relieve the tension on the belt by disconnecting the tensioner tab from the timing cover back plate.
  10. Slide the belt off the sprockets.

    To install:
  12. If, for any reason, the engine was disturbed, the camshafts moved or the sprockets replaced, perform the following procedure: NOTE: Make sure the correct notch in the pulley is indexed to the lower cylinder block.
    1. Position the crankshaft just prior to Top Dead Center (TDC).
    2. If not already done, locate and remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (refer to the illustration) and install the TDC timing peg.
    3. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the TDC peg. NOTE: Installation of the alignment tool into the exhaust camshaft may require the camshafts to be rotated clockwise.
    4. Install the camshaft alignment tool on the back of the camshafts.
    5. Install the timing belt and engage the timing belt tensioner tab into the upper timing cover backplate. NOTE: A 3⁄8 inch drive, 10mm, 2 inch torque adapter offset is required to tighten the tensioner bolt.
    6. Using a 6mm Allen wrench, adjust the tensioner until the index marks are aligned and tighten the bolt to 17–20 ft. lbs. (22–28 Nm).
    7. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the TDC alignment peg, then remove the camshaft alignment tool.
    8. Remove the TDC peg tool and install the plug bolt.
    9. Install the timing and valve covers.
    10. Install the water pump pulley and the splash shield.
    11. Install the spark plugs. If the engine or the camshaft were not disturbed in any way, or the sprockets were not removed, perform the following procedure:

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota. 3.9 liter V6. I have been having backfire issues and hesistation problems for a while I have replaced the spark plugs and wires, fuel injectors and o2 sensors. I don't think I...


It sounds like timing issues or the spark plug sequence is incorrect. To check the timing, remove the number one spark plug. Place a long screwdriver into the spark plug hole. Rotate the engine by using a ratchet and socket on the crankshaft pully nut (clockwise) and watch the screwdriver. When the timing marks in the crankshaft pully are aligned with "O" or "TDC" (top dead center) the screwdriver should be all the way out of the hole, just inside about 1 or 2 inches. If you rotate the crankshaft just a bit the screwdriver will start to go down, back the pully up to the 0 or TDC mark and the screwdriver will go back up. The is the properly timed engine.
Sometimes the engine will skip a couple of teeth due to a worn timing belt. Replace the timing belt and re-time the engine. Good luck, Jim

I have a hyundai sonata 2000 it is 2.0 16valve wont start


Firstly, what's a TDC sensor?.. the crank position sensor? If so, on the four (4) cylinder, it's located behind the timing belt cover at the crankshaft.. if it's the 2.5 V6, it's located behind the LH exhaust manifold on the engine block.

1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.0 SOHC I just replaced the timing belt because the old one had not broke but rather had eaten off all the teeth so the timing was off. I set the timing mark on the crank to TDC...


When changing the timing belt you need to place the cam shaft a TDC( clock wise), then rotate the crankshaft to TDC (clockwise), then back off the crankshaft (counter clockwise) THREE TEETH then back (clockwise) 1/2 tooth before TDC place your timing belt arround the crankshaft- water pump- and camshaft finally putting arround the tensioner pulley, holding 25 flbs of torque on the tensioner pulley to get the correct tension then push up on the hydrolic tensioner and tighten and you should have it.... rotate the crankshaft twice, if the camshaft pulley ends back on TDC then you have it correct.
