SOURCE: 2002 Monte Carlo wont start

sounds like your passlock sensor on the ignition barrel is faulty. you will have to go to the dealer to have it replaced because of the programming after replacement.

SOURCE: blows fuses

Generally speaking, a fuse 'blows' because too much current is drawn through that circuit. In this case I suspect a 'short-to-ground' or a bad voltage regulator (inside the alternator in a GMC). First, I would check the alternator's output voltage. Easiest just to look at your guage. Up to 14 1/2 volts is normal on a GM (with truck running), if it's higher - you need a new alternator. If it's under 14 1/2 volts, you
MUST find the short. Unless you have the specialized tools, (short-circuit finder, voltmeter, wiring
diagrams, etc.) this should be left to a competent automotive electrical shop. It could be as simple as a wire's insulation worn off or a short 'inside' the ECM (you truck's engine control computer). No matter what, one trip to a competent mechanic will probably be cheaper than continually replacing the computer and/or towing bills. Good luck!

SOURCE: 1992 volvo 240 keeps blowing overdrive fuses

More likely that the solenoid in the transmission is shorted to ground. Has any new electronic equipment been installed recently, like stereo, alarm, etc?

There is a ground not connected or a wire open that is causing it to blow

SOURCE: Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.

If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

more than likely you have a park lock solenoid problem , a lot of them are located on the shifter assembly or attached to a cable coming from the ignition when you press the brake pedal you can hear a click ," locate it" and disconnect the electrical connection to the solenoid

2008 Saturn Vue Stuck In Park. The car starts fine however when you try to shift out of park the shifter is locked up and won't budge. You have to restart the car multiple times to get the shifter...

these have a safety system so the shifter won`t go into any gear unless the brake is pushed(indicating someone sitting in the drivers seat),if the brake lights aren`t working this indicates that the fuse that operates the shift lock solenoid and brake lights is not working and needs replacing.check the fuses and replace the fuse and things will probably return to normal.

for the lights check the fuses under the dash and under the hood.it is unlikely more then one light would blow at the same time.the shifter should come out of gear when you press the brake.there is a switch that unlocks the shifter when the brake it pressed.switch may be bad.dash lights could also be a bad ignition switch.

check your owner's manual for shift interlock and how to bypass. make sure your brake lights are working. If not check for blown fuse. brake light switch failure will cause shifter interlock to not function. neutral safety switch must also be checked.

Your going to have to trouble shoot the problem. The vehicle is new enough that it probably has a ECM running everything. You may have a short in the sensor switch for the shifter that senses the position of the shifter and tells the engine how to run for that gear. If it is not working right it can back feed to the ECM and cause all sorts of wierd things to happen. The ECM (engine control module) is not cheep to replace. I would also check all your fuses and relays on the fuse blocks to make sure they are working correctly. It could be as simple as a fuse blown, a trans position sensor bad, or other control switch, worse case the ECM will have to be replaced. I would take it to a shop and have them put the engine code meter on it and see what trouble codes it kicks out and go from there. Good Luck, RAC

Shift button won't push in to get out of park

When you get back to the car, do this: Check to see if the brake lights work. If the brake lights do not work, the shifter will not come out of park. If the fuse for the brakes is blown, replace it, there are spare fuses under the hood, in the fuse box. If the fuse blows again, you have a short in the brake light circuit. The good news it this: Toyota provides an "over-ride" function to defeat the shift lock device, if you had a dead battery, and need to get it out of park. Look closely at the shifter/console area. You will see a small square piece of trim, about 1/2" square, or smaller. Pry this out with something like a small flat screwdriver or a metal nail file. Once the trim panel is removed, you will see a small button. Pressing this button will allow the car to come out of park. You will need to use this button every time until you get the cause of the problem sorted out. This should get you going. Thanks for choosing FixYa; a FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated.
