John might know more than me, but if it's similar to the Quattro filter, it mounts vertically on the right hand side of the tank (in front of right rear wheel) and can be physically pulled down for replacement (requires car jacked up).

You can do it by loosening the fuel tank straps and letting the tank down a bit. Dont have to completely remove the tank, but you do have to move it.

Geo wont start after running dry

Hello, I would replace the fuel filter. Sometimes the sediment gets sucked up by the fuel pump when run out of gas and clogs the fuel filter. Good luck.

What is wrong if the car won't start? Also if the engine turns over?

Could be several things. A clogged fuel filter, a non-working fuel pump, or a defective crank (angle) sensor, for example.

A defective crank angle sensor will prevent the ECU from knowing when to injecting fuel or make spark so it won't do either! The ECU will store a code if that is the problem.

Check the fuel pressure in the fuel rail. If none, the fuel pump may not run (or the in-line fuel filter is clogged.)

Check for fuel pressure and spark. If the gas is fresh, it ought to start.

2001 Audi A6 2.7T...Ran it out of gas. Now wont start. At first could hear fuel pump run for couple seconds with key in on position. Now fuel pump will only run when cranking. With key in on position...

It's very likely that you burnt out the fuel pump. The fuel pump needs gas running through it to keep it cool. If there was no gas and it's pumping air they tend to burn out very easily.

Fuel pump and filter good condition. but the car wont start, ignition does turn engine.pls advise. booysen

First establish fuel pressure at injectors.

After cranking the engine, break open the fuel line at the stainless steel manifold compression joint over the injectors with two wrenches(17mm? ).

Using a shop cloth to stop spray covering everything... you should get fuel comming out under pressure ...allow to stop weeping fuel and clean up any wet fuel.

Close fuel line and crank engine again.

Repeat...if fuel does not spray out pump is not pumping.

CAR WILL NOT START TURNS OVER THATS ALL

I have a bad feeling that your fuel pump is gone or a wiring problem. the fuel filter if not on the outside then it's in the tank. Try to bang the tank when someone is cranking it over. If it starts you need a fuel pump
