Overheats on hot days changed cam sensor thermo still stops till it cools

NRMA did check said all test show no problems leak in radiator cap changed cap still stops on hot days no problems in cold weather

These are tough to figure out sometimes. To name just a few, radiator hoses colapseing, see if there too soft when you squeeze them, head gasket, is the oil white looking that would indicate a head gasket are you losing any water in the radiator.. see if air could be getting around the radiator maybe a rubber seal is missing. Like i said tough to figure out, just keep looking..good luck

Water reserve bottle is emptying and engine is getting how


flushing a radiator is a waste of time and money as blocked cores do not flush. Have a pressure test done on the coolant system and check for external leaks. have a compression test done to check for head gasket and cracked head. Have a flow test done on the radiator and if shows signs of blockage replace the radiator .. Always fill the radiator at the radiator cap and not the reserve bottle. The reserve bottle water will not go down until the engine coolant starts to cool so if it is going down when the engine is hot then you have a bad leak in the reservoir bottle.

My sunfire overheats and leaks out overflow everytime i drivee it.i changed water pump,thermostat the fan is working fine and had a water pressure test done last mth


DID YOU BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM.TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM, FILL THE COOLANT SYSTEM THROUGH THE RESERVOIR TANK OR THE RADIATOR UNTIL THE FULL COLD MARK IS REACHED.BESURE TO USE 50/50 HALF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.YOU CAN BUY ANTIFREEZE THAT IS ALREADY PREMIX 50/50.AFTER ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO RESERVOIR OR RADIATOR FILL RADIATOR TO FULL MARK OR IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP ON RADIATOR POUR ANTIFREEZE IN THE OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY THE FULL COLD MARK.WAIT AWHILE UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.NOW INSTALL THE RADIATOR OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP.START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED AND THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE BECOME HOT.STOP THE ENGINE AND OBSERVE THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVERFLOW JUG. Ford Fiesta Zetec engine, year 2000. overheats after getting up to temperature, stays on normal for 1-2 kilometers, then gauge shoots over to the red. I stop, can hear water bubbling, wait till it cools...


1. Check the radiator cap.
2. Check the reserve tank, whether water level is maintained or getting filled. If it's getting filled, there should be a leak in the radiator or gasket

I HAVE A 2003 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. RUNS HOT ! REPLACED WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, ALL HOSES AND RADIATOR.BEEN TO TWO GARAGES, WHAT ARE WE MISSING


A lot of people overlook the simple overflow tank cap. If this cap loses the psi pressure it requires to hold then it can make the engine run hot because it's losing pressure. Think about it like this, if you have ever had a radiator to leak, the water level could be good, but the temp gauge shows it overheats. This is because the system isn't holding the pressure. The cap cost about $7. I'm not saying this will fix the problem but it is overlooked and fixes the problem on a lot of over heating cars.

Truck is running hot when I have to stop during regular day to day driving?


When the car is completely cool,check the electric fan(s) for smooth rotation.

Clean/check/change the thermo sensor,contact and wire.

Excavate air pocket in coolant system / check for head gasket leak

This test will kill two birds with one stone.

===

MAKE SURE THE COOLANT SYSTEM and ENGINE IS COLD!

RAN THIS TEST IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA ONLY!

You will spill some coolant during this air pocket purge test.......BE KIND TO THE ENVIRONMENT and ANIMAL please clean up after the test!

Put the front end on a pair of ramp or park your car on a VERY STEEP HILL (radiator facing top of the hill) .

Top of the coolant reserve tank

Let it ran for 10-15 minutes.

Monitor for air pockets escaping from coolant reserve tank.

Small amount of bubbles is OK at 1-5 minute mark

After the thermostat open up (after 195 F warm up) at
5-12 minute mark or after high idle you should see less bubbles.

If you do not see any in rush of bubbles then your thermostat may be partially stuck or rusted badly inside the thermostat hosing.

Give the thermostat host few gentle taps.

If you see larger bubbles surfacing after 15 minutes then should do a hydrocarbon (HC) dye test to test for potential head gasket leak.

Let engine cold down and top off coolant reserve tank.

Start monitor for coolant lost

A coolant flush is require every 2 years or 24,000 miles.

I recommend the thermostat that has a relief pop-let to reduce the change of burst radiator and coolant hoses.

Make sure you get a new thermostat gasket,black RTV and fresh coolant for the job.

Same problem , car has only 86,000 miles


replace that thermostat again...flush radiator any way...then see how it runs...

My car overheats and blows steam from reservoir


Check your radiator pressure cap see if theres too much pressure in it. If not that which I think it is, your thermostat may be stuck closed.
