Question about 1996 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

My blower motor makes a loud noise and only works on 1-3 settings but not 4.

When the engine is not running it works on all settings 1-4. I've checked the fuses and the cigar fuse is bad. I'm not sure if that would effect it thoe.

I think you need a new resistor, and your motor is Noisy, the motor is only 1 speed (2 wire), the resistor is varying the ground for speed

Ac fan is making extremely loud noises

Are you referring to the blower motor inside the car? If so, they get leaves in them which puts them out of balance and makes them noisy. Just take out the blower, 3 screws, and clean it. That's the cheap answer. It can be a bad blower motor.

2002 chrysler sebring blower motor is loud but works

Sounds like debris in the blower assy. Probably leaves, or my favorite - kids\' candy wrapper. Start with the thinnest extension you can find for your vacuum. Make sure the engine is off, blower off, key off. Squeeze it down through the vent nearest the blower motor. Wiggle it around to get as far into the blower assembly as possible. You may have to pull leaves out with the hose, they\'re too big to suck up.

Loud noise when a/c and defrost are on

I would check the fan motor for the heater sounds like the bearing is going out. Does it scream and then go quite or rumble if so it is probably the heater fan. It will run and blow air but it will make a lot of weird noises. If you shut the fan off and the noise goes away it is the fan.

My front motor blower is very loud on 4, but not my back a/c. is it easy to fix on your own ? if not how much does one cost to replace ?

I can only answer part of your question because you didn't mention what kind of Ford we are talking about. YEAR, MODEL, ENGINE SIZE, TRANSMISSION (automatic or standard) can all make a BIG difference in how hard the job is to do AND how much it is going to cost to fix it.

Many times, when a front blower motor is making loud noises, it is because there is someting that has gotten into the blower motor housing. I have seen loose papers from the glove box get drawn into the blower housing many times. In these cases the cost is not much at all, or even free if you do it yourself. You simply remove the blower motor and clear out whatever there is that got stuck in there and reassemble.

MOST blower motors are not hard to remove and replace except that you have to work in some tight places most of the time. The blower itself is usually only held in by 3 or 4 screws and an electrical connector. Again, I can't give any specifics because I don't know what kind of vehicle we are talking about. Since you mentioned a rear blower motor, I can only assume that you are talking about a van or a large SUV.

2002 sebring blower is very loud on setting 3 4

A loud blower motor, on higher settings, usually indicates a bent or broken blower motor fan blade, which throws it out of balance, causing the noise.

Honda heater makes loud noise

ok well its possible there may be something stuck in the blower motor under the passenger side dash. ..or the blower motor itself could be on its way out, sometimes leaves or sticks from trees and even stove inside the glove box can find their way into the windshield cowling and into your blower motor..u can remove it to check by unplugging its white connector and remove the 8mm bolts that secure it into the heater core box..its very easy to remove..the 8mm bolts / screws should also have a phillips head on them...

Sounds like the bearings that are on the shaft which the fan turns on are in severe need of lubrication. You can remove the fan unit and shoot some WD40 onto the shaft and bearings.
