My mountaineer will turn over but it makes a clicking sound what would that be

Bendix is worn on the starter motor ,or the solonoid is weak or the operating mechanism that pulls the bendix out is worn

07 mountaineer awd front end noise more from driver side. Sounds like the drivetrain. What should I look for.


Check the front drive shaft u-joint, and front cv shafts on the front axle, may be worn and need to be replaced. These parts will make a clicking or popping noise may sound like a thud sound.

2000 Mountaineer makes a rubbing & grinding sound when braking

you probably need a starter.
remove the starter and using jumper cables hold the starter real tight between your feet put the ground on a flange and put the hot on the bottom of the copper stud it should turn very fast

it is the starter/cylinoid. about $65 at any part store. easy to replace for someone with basic mechcanical skills
