Why will my 98 mercedes S320 not start

Put in more gas ,changed voltage regulator,tried to start it in neutral,it cranks but will not start, 120000 miles

SOURCE: changing front brake pads, brake fluid starting leaking after removing bolts

there should be no brake fluid comming from the caliaber at all.look on the in side of the caliaber on the top and bottom you should see 2 long bolts. they may be hexagon,allen key, or a bolt. there are the 2 you are looking for. DO NOT SET PARKING BRAKE. when you take the bolts out you will see 2 small shafts where the bolts came out of. they must be push back in flat with the caliaber ( you may or may not have them). you have to open the lid where you add brake fluid. now take off the front pad leave the pad on in the hole. take your C-CLAMP and place it over the caliaber and the brake pab and compress the piston until it flat with the caliaber. ( you will repeat this on the other side ) at this point take your dic brakequit spred a coating on the parts thats need. ( referr to the old parts ) dont get anything on the front of the pad. let the pad sit for about 5min. ( smoke a cigarette. if you dont smoke i will teach that in part 2 ) now that the dic brake is tacky place the one that fixs in the hole on first now the outter one. slide it back on you may have to tap it in place after its seated replace the bolts. now your going to see that it has a gap between the brake pad and the rotor.replace the lid on where you add brake fuild. put the tier back on the car and pump your brakes. it should get hard. ( not you the brake pedal ) now repeat these steps for the other side.

you may have two bleed your brakes because you let fuild out that means you let air in. PLEASE let me know if this helped you.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere between your valve and your source. A common vac leak that occurs on the 220 is at the vac. rubber y located at the back of the intake manifold. Follow your vac. line from the egr to the switchover valve and from the switch over valve to the source. Which is probably the y connecter

SOURCE: 1998 Jeep Cherokee - hard to start

My 98 Cherokee was the exact same. I used to have to turn the key back and forth 3 times and then it would start. Otherwise it would just crank and crank for a while and then start. Pretty embarrassing! Took it to the dealer and they said that my fuel pump was losing pressure. I changed the fuel pump and I don't have to prime the pump anymore.

2006 Mercedes-Benz c230 will not start


At 12.3 volts you are down to about 50 % of battery and if you are going to attempt to start it again the battery should be charged so the engine spins at a nice fast rate. Having said that have you checked for spark? Is there an ignition fuse?

And I would try the code analyzer. Nothing to lose and all to gain.

What would cause my 1998 Mercedes S320 not to start.


Try replacing the crankshaft sensor. Same thing was happening to my E320. Also, it would cut-off while driving it.

it,s the neutral switch under nealth the steering wheel colum its a connect attach to it , it should be white looking with wire connect to them maybe four of them

98 wrangler shuts off and won't start intermittently. Codes are P1594, 0320, 0463 & 1391. Do I change the crank senor, cam sensor or fuel filter/regulator??


(this is for others who may be viewing this problem)
P1594 = charging system voltage is too high
P0320 = crankshaft position sensor (CKP)/engine speed (RPM) sensor-circuit malfunction
P0463 = fuel level sensor circuit, high output
P1391 = intermittent loss of CMP (camshaft position) or CKP (crank position) sensor

Probably start with changing the crank sensor. But keep in mind that the high charging system voltage may be causing the other electrical sensor problems. The voltage regulator (probably located internally in the alternator) is not regulating voltage properly. So changing the alternator may be needed as well. Price the parts and start with replacing the less expensive first.

Loss of power


I have the same problem on a s320 cdi, gearbox goes into limp mode and wont rev above or kickdown, at the 1st chance i get to stop i put into park or neutral gear turn off the engine and re-start and then everthing is fine, I read that if you put a new battery on it may solve the problem, it's something to do with the voltage dropping below 10.4 volts. Then it sends a message to e.c.u. that puts your gearbox into limp mode. Hope this will work for you. MERKY

No start after drive,several relays changed,blowing fuse #16


you have a short. maybe in your alarm unit itself try to locate the control box for the alarm and unplug the starter kill relay and bypass it then try starting the car.
