Limit switch
tilting safety switch

try propane torch on burner to burn off any restrictions.

by any chance are you useing old fuel?

Truck started ran a few minutes and quit now wont start


Hi

This is most likely to be one of two possibilities; lack of fuel or no spark.
I would check the spark first as it is the easiest to do. Take off a plug lead and if you have an old plug clip it on the live lead and earth the plug thread to the motor somewhere (I use a bit of fine wire to hold in place). Get someone to wind over the motor by turning the key and observe for a nice blue spark on the plug you have added. I open the plug gap right up quarter of an inch or so to make it easier to see. A healthy ignition will fire this ok.
If you have a good spark check fuel delivery.
I note you have fuel in the tank, but is the pump delivering fuel ok? Maybe blockage in fuel filter (water from tank can clog filter), is the pump working ok. See if you can take off the fuel line and wind it over to discharge into a vessel to see volume being delivered (take special care not to spill on motor and cause fire, or waste price of fuel these days cannot waste)

If it turns, then the battery is OK. Either spark plugs are not firing in proper order (wrong firing order), no power to spark plugs, or no fuel because of fuel restrictions (dirty fuel filter). Inspect the air filter to ascertain its not clogged air. If you smell gas, then you saturated the spark plugs, which is why it refuses to run.
Let it sit for half hour to let spark plugs dry. Inspect to ascertain its not dirty spark plugs, which will also prevent engine from running. After ascertaining its proper firing order, spark plugs are clean, and there's power to distributor cap, ascertain there's fuel in fuel lines by squirting half second (short squirt) of starting fluid into air filter. Close the air filter housing to trap flammable starting fluid gas. Turn engine without giving throttle. Let starting fluid be ignited by spark plugs. If it won't start, then spark plugs are not firing to ignite starting fluid gas. If it starts briefly, but won't run when you give throttle, but catches when a 2nd person squirts more starting fluid into air filter just before engine stalls, then its a fuel restriction issue or no fuel in fuel lines.

If it's getting fire and fuel would suggest timing issue. Maybe check crank and cam sensors. Getting any check engine light?

Car won't fire


check your fuses as a start then check relays and then fuel pressure because the filter could have only 1000 miles on it and have problems with it and it could also be the coil pack died on it .

I have a 99 GMC suburban it has set for a few months its turning over but won't start I changed my spark plugs what else can I do.


with a glass.. like a shot glass poor half a shot into the intake. have a fire extinguisher handy and try starting it if it tries to start could be fuel pump or fuel filter

1992 mx-3 v6 won't start. will hit sparaticly as if about to start but just won't catch. checked crank pos. sensor. need suggestions on how to proceed.


Check for a blue snapping spark on 2 or 3 plug wires(or all of them). If you get good spark, then ignition is likely not the problem. A weak or sporadic spark could be a bad coil or coil pack, or a bad ignition module (the ignitor).Check the coils with a volt-ohmmeter per the specs for your car. The ignitor can be tested at a parts store.
If spark is good, check fuel filter, fuel pressure, check timing marks on crank pulley and cam marks, Try a little starting fluid in the air intake and see if it runs for a moment. If so, then it's likely a fuel delivery problem. If no change, then it's likely an ignition circuit problem.

2002 jeep liberty turns over but will not crank. I hear the fuel pump at the gas tank but it still acts like it isn't getting any gas, I thought it was the gas because my husband's truck stopped...


Check for pressure at your fuel rail, If your fuel pump is working correctly you should be getting fuel spraying out of the rail when you press in on the needle valve (sometimes covered by a small cap)

This will let you know if your fuel pump is working, and at least if fuel is making it past your filter.

My truck will not start just cranks but will not fire


Air - not likely the problem ! mechanical cable controlled throttle body

Fuel- make sure there is gas in tank! fuel pressure test at the throttle body or rails, if no fuel check power to fuel pump: ignition power to breaker or fuse, relay , power to pump at 3 pin connector near tank/frame rail on drivers side, - if pump is runniig but insufficient pressure, check for mechanical restriction: plugged filter broken or pinched line, plugged pickup tube in tank. if good pressure to rail or body, check ecm : diagnostic codes, fused power, ecm tells injectors when to open, dependent upon several sensor parameter inputs.

Spark- ignition - coil-distributor-ignition module (or coil packs)- wires-plugs-ignition module (signals coil to discharge, mounted beneath distr cap) work backwards from plugs.
