Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Hey i have a 95' GMC sonoma 2.2L. Im installing a in-line pump instead of a in-tank pump, i have pump all set to go but i cant figure out the electrical part. There are 4 wires coming out of the fuel pump sending unit, 2 of them are black, but one has a white or yellow line down the middle, the other two are a shade of red, and either a dark green or grey. The problem im having is that i only need the positive and the negative. I know the other two are for fuel level, and gauge. Help is super appreciated!!!

I have a couple of questions first one is i have a 1998 gmc sonoma that im putting a carbed 350 in and im wanna know how do you wire the my key switch to the starter i don't want it wired to a switch....

Hope this helps on the starter. I guess you mean you need to buy a separate starter switch. That way it will not be wired to the normal switch. Some diagram detective work will find the wire to cut and transfer to the new switch.

You can use your fuel pump in the tank, but may a pressure reducer device and a return line to carry excess fuel back to the tank.

Dash? You can if you have similar parts on your new set up. You will learn a lot on this experiment, for sure. http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/

I have a 2000 gmc sonoma when the gas gets below a half tank its hard to start it will also die while ur driving it and it backfires when you try to start it but only when it gets below a half tank

There is a metal chamber that is in the fuel pick up line about 1/2 way up designed to take the pulsation out of the pump.If the o rings are bad or the pump has been changed (some mechanics take the pulsator out and replace it with fuel line but if they didn't use fuel injection line it will only last like a few months.)
Either way sounds like the tank has to come out.

It will start sometimes then other times it wont start at all new fuel pump and fuel pump realy

check the wiring going along the frame,I had a 95"ford explorer ,that I replaced the fuel pump in.when I tested it before mounting the tank back,no power making it to the pump.where the wiring turns off the frame towards the top of the tank(to the f.pump)a factory connector was bad or going bad.sometimes would crank and sometimes not.being that it was 2am in the morning,I cut the connector out,and straight wired it,and was good until i could get another connector....check it out.
