Question about 2001 Mazda MPV

2 Answers

Our 2001 Mazda MPV doors are not locking. Before, we were able to lock all doors just by locking manually locking from the inside on the driver side and using the remote keyless entry. Now, when we try to lock it from the driver side, only that door locks and there's a delayed clicking noise shortly afterwards. From the keyless remote, it would say lock on the remote but the doors would not lock. If we take it to get look at, what should we be aware of? Thanks.

The clicking you hear is the vehicle asking for the program sequence to reprogram the locking system. Apparently something threw it out of sequence, ( a battery change , jumpstart, voltage spike , etc). The programming sequence that mazda uses is really kinda crazy. I was able to locate the sequence to try. If it does not work have the dealership flash the pcm, (another word for reprogram the powertrain control module). Here is the sequence:
1) Get in MPV with ignition key, and all fobs for the vehicle.
2) Close all doors and remove ignition key if it is in ignition.
3) Open driver's door
Note: Steps 4 and 5 must be completed in under thirty seconds.
4) Repeat the following three times
a) Insert ignition key
b)Turn ignition switch to on and then to lock
c) Remove ignition key
5) Repeat the following three times
a) Close driver's door
b) Open driver's door
Locks should all lock and then unlock within a couple of seconds--you'll hear the clicking sound
6) Press any button two times within five seconds on fob being programmed.
Locks should again lock and unlock
7) Repeat step 6 for all other fobs being programmed. When done with last fob, wait a few seconds and then you should be done with the reprogramming. Each fob should now work for this vehicle.

The delayed clicking is probably a relay that's trying to function that operates all the locks. Try and trace the lock relays and check the operation. You may find a picture or diagram on google or bing images.

Mazda 3 2010 driver's door locked and won't open

This is what fixed the my car's driver's door that was stuck closed and locked: the plastic piece that function as the manual lock/unlock on the inside of the door (it's black but when the door's unlocked it has a red side facing out) had essentially popped out and everything was jammed. So you push the button back in while you flip the inside handle open. But maybe I was lucky, in that it was only the button that was jammed.

MAZDA MPV 2002 LJ102 - Drivers side door lock won't latch - small clip inside has broken - realise it is not separate lock and actuator but one sealed unit - need to source one ASAP - can you help??

The only place you are going to find those parts is at the dealer or a salvage yard. The dealer may even be able to get just the clip, but sometimes (especially with Mazda) you will have to buy the complete door latch assembly.

Driver door window won't roll up, gets stuck

It probably came off the track inside the door? Youll have to open the door from the inside and have a look! Usually there is a couple of screws wherever there is a handle and a few locking pins for the roll handles! Watch out not to break too many plastic fittings when you take it apart! If you can't do this! A car window specialist should do the trick!

Drivers side window has slipped off track 2006 mazda mpv

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you can readjust the window mechanics.

Program remote control for mazda mpv 2002

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done

Try "resetting" your keyless entry code. Which is a fancy way of explaining that I broke my keyless entry key fob and had to order a new one. It came w/ instructions explaining how to get the new fob to speak to the car's computer. It was weird (turn key on and off 3 times, open and close door three times, etc. **I'm sure my neighbors were watching and laughing**), but it worked. I'll scan and email you the insrtuctions if you wish. Dan: dcarterlaw@lycos.com
