Seen as there has been a leak in the coolant system in the heater core it is possible that the coolant system has a air lock in it and a few things can resolve this. fill the coolant system to the correct level just with water until the problem is rectified. most vehicles have a air bleed screw. with the engine run up to normal temp and the pressure cap on bleed the air out of the coolant system by undoing the screw a few turns and releasing the air from the coolant system, if fitted with a bleed valve it will be some where on the higher part of the coolant system. if not fitted with one it can also be done by raising the front of the vehicle in the air by a trolley jack and using a coolant pressure tester on the coolant system , compressing the air and moving it along to the radiator . then when the compression tester is moved off the system top up the rad and reserve to the correct level and see if this helps . also it is possible that the thermostat may have been damaged and isn't working properly. check the throttle cable for being kinked , jammed or faulty return spring , also check full throttle travel at the butterfly and that it is returning to the closed position. next up would be clean the throttle body as well as the iac (idle control circuit) these get gummed up from time to time and can cause a issue as well. other possibles are a vaccume leak . hope this is of some help mate. high idle close to 4000 rpm - 25308008-fpzkrwmvbajwh1n4vjb0ch5c-1-0.jpg

Major vacuum leak

A vacuum leak is unlikely to hold RPM that high. 1st inspect throttle plate not closed all the way, possibly hung up, or cable pulled too tight holding throttle open or accelerator pedal not releasing completely. If ok, next would be a computer controlled issue , Possibly idle speed control motor or throttle body assembly if not cable operated .

No heat at idle or low rpm's on 2004 audi a4 1.8t quattro

have a radiator shop pressure bleed the coolant system to remove air trapped in the system ( probably in the heater core and not allowing full coolant flow all the time . Regardless of the air temp the thermostat will keep the coolant temp at approx. 85 degrees C. As to the cig socket check the fuse first . If the socket fails it will dead short. The little element in the knob bit are prone to burning out . Get a plug in for the lighter and attach a light across the wires (multi meter) turn on to accessories or run on the ignition switch and see if you have power Tests fuse and socket

Engine idles high and then slowly drops to 1100 rpm it takes about 20 seconds and it does it every time you give it gas

Check the engine for vacuum leaks with a bottle Propane gas, if you hit a leak the idle will change right away. Repair as needed. If no leak is found have the engine computer run through a active self test, this checked the idle speed control system and returns a fault code. You can do a passive test as well. You will need a OBD1 system scanner or follow the instructions here.

My 1999 rodeo has a throttle position sensor issue .the truck is staying at a high idle i brought and instaled a new sensor it didnt fix the problem how do i resolve? I had a print out done it said open...

There is a mechanism called the Idle Air Control Valve that is bolted to the throttle body with two bolts. It has an electrical connector plugged into the front of it. When that unit started going defective on my 97 Rodeo, sometimes the car would idle at 2500 RPM when the clutch was pushed in. Other times it stall when the clutch was pushed in. At the time (5 years ago) it cost $41 from Autozone to replace.

Step by step directions on how to remove heater core on a 1995 old aurora

Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
* Remove the heater coolant hoses.
* Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
* Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
* Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
* To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps. When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

Good luck.

I have a 93 isuzu rodeo that at times smells like fuel and gets 10 or 11 miles per gallon yet runs fine, except for an occational 2000 rpm idle. what could cause the poor milage and smell of fuel?

check for a leaking fuel rail,or injector,or the fuel pressure regulator, which is a vacuum operated valve at the end of the fuel rail.the high idle is caused by a vacuum leak, and if the regulator is leaking, that could be the fuel smell

I'm not sure but sounds like you might have a few vacum lines that are rotted and sucking air in them. I would start checking all your vacum lines to start with. good luck
