Question about 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

Hi, I am the owner of a 2006 VW Jetta with 67,000 miles on it. Recently I've had problems with the car stalling while on the highway. (actually it declerrates) I also have stiffing of the breaks.

Taken my vehicle to a shop that was referred to me and supposed to be a really honest crew. I suspect they are not familiar enough with VW's. My car started stalling occasionally in idle position then went on to stall and decelerate on the highway. I'd stop my vehicle and restart it to proceed driving. It continues to worsen. My braking system seems to be very stiff and feels dangerous to drive as if my breaks will go out completely. When I got my routine oil change done, the tech told me that my oil was below the stick. It shouldn't have been as I get regular oil changes. Any ideas?

Hard to tell by description but based on the input, sound like maybe a bad vacuum leak. Check all the vacuum hoses to be sure none are cracked, broken or fallen off.

IAC valve may be sticky or carboned up. Use throttle body cleaner to clean it up, and it should be good.

Very common problem is about a dime size hole wearing in the rubber elbow on the PCV valve located on the driver side rear of the intake manifold.

Show the fuse diagram for the Volkswagen jetta?

The fuse diagams might differ slightly according to which particular model you have. A copy of the fuse diagram was typically put on the inside of the fuse panel inside your car, and in the Owner's Manual that came along with your car. If neither of those are available you can check at http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=fuse+diagram%2c+2006+vw+jetta&qpvt=fuse+diagram%2c+2006+VW+Jetta&qpvt=fuse+diagram%2c+2006+VW+Jetta&FORM=IGRE

2006 JETTA- RECOMMEND TIMING BET REPLACEMENT

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The 2006 Jetta service manual says every 60,000 miles the belt should be replaced. Seems a bit on the short side to me but that is the manufacturer request non the less.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I've got a 2001 VW Jetta GLS with 108k miles. Recently I've noticed that the ****** isn't shifting from 2nd to 3rd but only when engine temp is below 190.

shifting solenoid - either they work or do not,. otherwise look closely at the wires going into and inside the transmission

Best regards

Stalling

I suggest trying a diesel additive in your tank if you haven't been using it. It is available at Walmart as I use it all the time. I have 64K miles on my 06 Jetta TDI with not problems. You also could have something in your tank causing the problem. (condensation)

Hi, Did you notice the motor actually reving higher when the tachometer was reading a higher rpm.. If it was it could be your transmission slipping.. Set your cruise control and listen to your motor while the tachometer starts moving erratically.. Good Luck

Jetta v6 lurching and almost stalling

When something in the car's faulty and a sensor picks it up and tells the computer, the computer will cause the car to do exactly that. Could be anything, from a damaged air intake sensor to the breaks.

Have your car connected to a computer and let the computer do the talking for you.

I heard of an issue with the fuel pick up in the tank. It has a check valve that gets hung up or freezes in the colder climates.
