SOURCE: How to read trouble codes on 1998 Toyota Camry w/o scan tool

You can go to any auto parts store and they will usually read them for you for free. Around the late 90s many of the auto computer systems began requiring scan tools rather than the older method of simply flashing lights on the dash if you jumpered the correct pins.

SOURCE: toyota radio code

Johnny5486:

Emissionwiz is correct, but, his information is for older Model Camrys.

The 2003 "factory-installed" radios in the Camry product line does not have an anti-theft feature, and, because of having no anti-theft feature, there is no reactivation code. If you have a dead battery, the only thing you will lose regarding the radio functions would be the radio stations that you programmed into the memory. The radio will function properly after a dead battery is replaced with no issues.

SOURCE: it loses power on acceleration and serious loss of power on hills

sounds like a clogged fuel filter. you need to have the engine pressure checked for leaks, you can rent the pressure checker at autozone, it connects to ur radiator and u pump pressure into the cooling system if u find water leaking around the head u know u have a blown head gasket. if ok then check the cylinder compression should beable to rent this also. it screws into the spark plug holes has a gauge on it. alternator problem w/ the light is probaly you need to tighten the belt.hope this helps!!!

SOURCE: does a 91 toyota camry

Hi, OBD2 didn't start until 1996, but you can extract your codes manually. You have to run a jumper in the data link connector under the hood. See procedure below. If you can tell me which engine you have, I may be able to provide the table of codes.

1982-95 MODELS All models except the 1MZ-FE engine is equipped with OBD I till 1995.

  1. Make sure the battery voltage is at least 11 volts.
  2. Make sure the throttle valve is fully closed.
  3. Place the gear shift lever in Neutral. Turn all accessories off.
  4. The engine should be at normal operating temperature.
  5. Using a jumper wire, connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the Data Link Connector 1 (DLC1).
  6. Turn the ignition switch ON , but do not start the engine. Read the diagnostic code by the counting the number of flashes of the malfunction indicator lamp.
  7. Codes will flash in numerical order. If no faults are stored, the lamp flashes continuously every 1 / 2 second. This is sometimes called the Normal or System Clear signal.
  8. After the diagnosis check, turn the ignition OFF and remove the jumper wire.
  9. Compare the codes found to the applicable diagnostic code chart. If necessary, refer to the individual component tests in this section. If the component tests are OK, test the wire harness and connectors for shorts, opens and poor connections.

It looks like your engine needs an overhaul. You can confirm by doing a compression test.

      Toyota overheat

Toyota normally use a viscous fan hub which fails when required especially when waiting at lights or when using high rpm's going up hills... Have a compression test done to determine head gasket or cracks . Check cooling system for leaks with a coolant system pressure test . Have the radiator flow tested checking for blocked cores.. First stop for me would be the hub if you have one.

      Diagnostic Trouble Code P1705

Code 1705 is brand specific, for Toyota it is for a problem with a clutch sensor inside the transmission.
The sensor would need to be tested by a mechanic or someone with the tools and diagnostic info.

When driving toyota camry 95 , the car loses power and the engine light comes on. Then the car gets power again and the light goes off. Sometimes the car completely dies and then it is very difficult to...

The check engine light comes ON.This light comes because there is any error code saved in cars computer. In this case the car needs to be scanned. You can get your car scanned at car diagnostic center like www.autozone.com or at your local car garage. Once the car is scanned the error code will be detected so as per that you can get the part replaced.

yes, that is called a "check eng" light, this may have came on for many different reasons, low eng oil level, low eng. oil pressure, eng. may be misfireing, eng. may be overheating etc. many things can cause this. get hold of a diagnostic scanner and scan for codes. or take it to any shop. theyll scan for you
