My lights keep surging while I'm driving and even after I replace the hubs on both wheels, the ABS and Traction Control Systems fail immediately afterwards. Could the alternator be creating an electr

I have replaced both hubs several times and still get the same results, but the surging continues, I will be replacing the alternator to try and see if that fixes the surges, but not ready to spend that much more money yet.

Wheel Hub Bearing Assy's last 120 to 150,000 miles

You replace them one time only or your doing something
to damage them on install

You have ABS System problems--so you say

You need to use professional scan tool to access that
module & component test from there, to find a problem

So your going to throw parts at the unknown, with no testing
at all, to find a problem, by replacing the alternator?

Why not test it & the system?

The alternator could effect many things

Then you close-- as everyone does-- with the money issues

But how about the cost of that alternator, that may not be
the problem?

I had a friend /backyard mechanic change my lower ball joints and LF hub assembly. Now my ABS light is on and the ADVTRAC won't turn on. 05 Mountaineer 2wd. Why?

anytime the suspension system needs to be repaired, its crucial that a wheel alignment is done. because the computer is so precise in its measurements of wheel speed; which facilitate systems like abs/traction control, even the slightest value being out of spec could and most likely will result in failure of these systems. get an alignment. hope this helps!

What can i do to a 2008 cobalt chey my service taction light comes on.

If the ABS light comes on immediately it likely has something to do the actual ABS control unit. Those are expensive, ask the place that did the work if they made any adjustments. Typically ABS control systems should only be serviced by the OEM. If the light comes on when you are driving, or if there is a catastrophic short in one of the wheel sensors it would also cause this and be far cheaper. Since the traction control light is also coming on it may very well be a wheel sensor since the same sensor is often used to detect wheel slippage and motion stop (for traction and ABS). The sensor price varies, for my Chevy Corsica is was 60+ for the front ones, and a lot for the rear since the sensor was housed in the hub. (if you have disc brakes in the rear, the price should be the same. i own a repair shop, and its not as bad as it sounds on this one,it could just be maintenance reminder on it causing this to happen they will do this ever so many miles, but i would have it checked, because when they was doing the brakes on it they might have hit a sensor and knocked a wire loose on it or something, but its not a big major thing with it,but take it back and have it checked,at this time there would be no way as to guess the cost of fixing it,if its a loose wire, probably 0 cost on it,but have it checked to be sure, good luck i hope this helps

ABS light won't go off recently had both front wheel bearings replaced on a 1999 gmc jimmy - the ABS light came on immediately during a test run, i told the mechanic about it and i was told it would...

There are ABS wheel speed sensors on the front wheels behind the hubs. It is possible if the hub where replaced either the pick up ring mounted to the hub itself was not installed or might have purchase non abs hubs or they just did not switch the wheel speed pickup ring on the new hub. Another thing could be either the wheel speed sensors are mis adjusted or when they replaced the hubs they hung the spindle by the abs wire and either pulled it out of socket or messed up the wires internally. Here is a basic abs system http://www.ehow.com/how_8511860_diagnose-abs-brakes.html if you have any other questions please let me know. Also please leave good feedback.

Traction control light on ,brake light on ,abs light on

If the brake light is on, check the fluid level immediately and add fluid if necessary.
After that, have the car's OBD-II computer scanned with a 'Brake Scan' tool for OBD-II. This will help to narrow down which wheel speed sensor is giving you trouble. It might be a broken wire, or a bad wheel speed sensor.

The wheel speed sensor sends information to the ABS side and the Traction Control side of the computer module for ABS and Traction Control.

The car will revert to standard braking and regular non braking transmission power distribution to the drive wheels when the ABS and Traction Control lights are both on.

Good luck on this repair.

Abs and the traction control off light is on

Each wheel has a sensor on it which tells the abs system that your wheel is rolling and lets the cpu know if there is any difference in speed between them. Most likely you damaged one or more of them when you did the work. Check the wiring going to the sensors, if it's not that, then you either need to bring it to a dealer or live without abs and traction control. (abs and traction control work from the same sensors).

The traction control gets its information from the ABS system, so a faulty sensor reading will automatically shut down the traction control system.

It is common in this vehicle for the sensor to malfunction!

Brake system warning
Momentarily illuminates when the
ignition is turned to the START
position. Also illuminates if the
parking brake is engaged. If the
brake warning lamp does not
illuminate at these times, seek service immediately. Illumination after
releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake
system should be inspected immediately.
Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
Momentarily illuminates when the
ignition is turned to the ON
position. If the light remains on,
continues to flash or fails to
illuminate, have the system serviced
immediately. With the ABS light on, the anti-lock brake system is
disabled and normal braking is still effective unless the brake warning
light also remains illuminated with the parking brake released.
