Question about Toyota Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I removed battery to charge replaced to vehicle and it will not disarm unless I do the battery trick the alarm has Toyota on the remote pads and back of claxton

Since recharging and replacing battery the alarm will not disarm other than disconnect / reconnect battery i've changed battery on a few occasions in the past but never had this problem before. their appears to be numerous permutations to resolve the problem which has left me totally confused.

if this is an after market alarm the alarm is armed and you will need the manufactures procedure to manually disarm the alarm. in most cases a few snips of some wires in the right places will deactivate the system but some rewiring will be required to reconnect the ignition system.

if this is the vehicles manufactured alarm system, you should go to the dealership and get a new alarm fob. the dealer can provide you with the sequence for programing the new alarm fob.

Find the alarm and disconnect it, or locate the fuse to the alarm and remove it. Then you can charge the battery without all the noise. Once the battery is charged, hook the alarm up and disarm it with the remote.

If it has antitheft, arm the alarm, and then disarm it,do this with the doors and hood ,and trunk closed,if this does not work, remove the negative cable for 20 seconds, and then replace it,and see if that does the trick.

Just replaced battery on 2005 tundra, how do I reset the vehicle alarm. The alarm now sounds whenever I open the doors.

Anytime the alarm sounds when opening the door with the key, get into the truck anyway, place the key into the ignition key switch and turn it on and off 2 times. The horn will stop blowing and the lights will stop flashing. You're ready to go.......

I can't turn off the factory installed alarm on my 2005 Rav 4.

yeah. disconnect the battery, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position. leave the driver's side door open, and reconnect the battery. the alarm will chirp a few times while you're putting the battery back on, but this SHOULD work.

you might as well go ahead and take the battery out of the remote for the alarm as well, to make sure its not setting your alarm off as well. you can replace the battery in the remote once the battery is reconnected in the vehicle. the remote might need to be reprogrammed if the alarm goes off again, otherwise its time to go to the toyota dealership!

!!WARNING!! make sure the key isnt in the position to START the vehicle, you just want the key ON. make sure that nothing else in the vehicle is on, and also, be VERY careful when reconnection the battery, as it will spark when it makes its connection. if you have been charging the batter a lot, make sure to give the battery time to cool down, because when car batteries get hot, they emit hydrogen, which is explosive. this IS a risky move, but is the only thing you can do, unless you either install a kill-switch or charge the battery and drive to the dealership while the alarm is going off. sometimes, when you start the vehicle, the alarm will stop, but im assuming this isnt your case.

Car remote lock/unlock no longer working

Check the batteries in your remote the may need replaced and if working OK check to see if you power locks work pushing the door switch. (If batteries are low they may not disengage both the alarm and the locks)

The car alarm and key pad will not disarm and the car will not start.

Normal system operation - when the burglar alarm is active, the starter circuit is disabled. Is the battery dead or weak in the keyless remote? Also, is the remote you have been programmed for this vehicle? If the answer is 'yes' to both questions, replace the battery in the remote. Otherwise, place your ignition key in the ignition and turn the key to 'run' (or 'ON") wait 5 minutes, the vehicle should start (if the battery isn't dead).
