Can not use a vehicle without a converter

You have no fuel control, without it

Where did the oxygen sensors go?

Sounds like you have zero vehicle experience
& need a repair shop

Head Gasket a possible

Compression test won't tell you the complete story

Need to do the proper tests for a head gasket, as well
as Cylinder Leak Down Test

White smoke is water/coolant. Black smoke is too much fuel, blue smoke is oil burning. Since you changed plugs, this is why you get it to start. Do a compression test. My guess is a blown head gasket..

I just answered your other question about this same issue. You need to stop replacing parts long enough to DIAGNOSE the problem so you are not creating further problems by changing all the parts on the car.

How do I change spark plugs and cables on my 05 Nissan sentra 1.8 special edition??and what else do I need besides the plugs ? Please write back at

I am carsandcomps from My name is Brandon. In order to replace your spark plug wires and spark plugs (best to do both) - do one at a time. Start from one side of the engine (ex: drive front/back) depending on your engine position; doesn't really matter, just start at one side.
1. Remove plug wire from plug (make sure new plug is gapped; auto parts dealer can give you this, and sell you a spark plug gap tool for cheap) 2. Follow the spark plug wire (existing one) to it's place on the distributor (if equipped) or coil pack (if equipped). 3. Pull the wire off from the distributor cap (or coil pack if equipped); insert new (gapped) spark plug, and put the new plug wire on.
Do this step for each one, as it ensures each one is placed properly and your engine will run as needed when finished. Also make sure they "click" when pushing them onto the plugs and distributor cap (coil pack) whichever is present.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Just about anytime it rains or damp out my 1996 Sentra will run fine for about a mile or two then if I stop at idle it will start running real bad, die out and not start for between 45 minutes to an hour...

This is a classic symptom of bad spark plug wires or a bad distributor cap. Changing the cap, rotor, & wires is generally the first step. Moisture can also cause problems with the ignition coil & sometimes fuel control (computer sensors) systems

Sounds like the injector in #1 cylinder is not working. Unplug injector and check for OHM reading. The spec for your injector is I believe at around 10-14.5 OHMS. If out of spec, replace it. If that's OK, than check for 12V on one side of the connector going to the injector. If 12V is there, than you are getting power. The other wire goes to the ECM/computer. You will have to trace it to the computer and check for continuity from the injector connector to the ECM/ Continuity should be present. If no continuity is found, than you have a broken wire. If continuity is OK, than the ECM may be the cause. There could be other causes also, like engine mechanical issues, such as burned valve, bad piston, plugged EGR passages on your model Sentra or headgasket. Start with checking the injector and post results. I think that you will find, that its not any good.
