Located on white sticker which is on top of the lock control unit located either 1. in the spare compartment in the rear driver side. (where jack and tools are), or 2. behind the passenger side "B" pillar (need to remove the 2 inside plastic covers near the seat belt shoulder attachment (adjustment). Once you have this code, it will either unlock the car, or you will need to reset the code. (follow directions in the owner's manual).

How do we get a key for a 1998 Ford Explorer?

If it is a computerized key you may have to go to a Ford garage. They will look at your serial number to find the code.

Check your Car insurance or any coverage you may have through Credit Cards or Autoclubs. Sometimes the insurance package includes stuff you never thought you signed for.

When a car is new, the Company issues a printed Keyless entry Code and prints it on a Plastic Card. This means that the Manufacturer has a record of the Keyless Code for each Vehicle as long as the original Code has not been changed.

Call Ford Owner Relations and write down the Vin# if you do not have an Insurance form with the number on it. All car insurances use the Vin# to ID your vehicle. The Vin Plate should be at the base of the Windshield on the Drivers side.

Once you supply some form of ID to satisfy the Maker, they should be able to give you the Code.

Tow truck drivers and Police often have Slim-Jims to open car doors. Either may be cheaper than a Locksmith.

WHERE DO I FIND THE KEYPAD CODE FOR MY 1997 FORD EXPLORER

The factory code is also printed on a label which is installed on the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) Module. This is the module that controls the keyless entry system. It is located in the left rear quarter behind the removable panel (see photo). You will need to turn the two thumb screws counter clockwise and take the plastic panel off to be able to see the unit. A flashlight may be helpful in seeing the code. You are looking for the module and the 5 digit code on it like the one shown below.

The last weekend I search my RAP, find label for read code and now is working.

Just bought a 2002 ford explorer need to know how to get the door lock code.

there is one in the owners manual printed on a card, otherwise you will have to write down your vin number and contact the dealer for this. It's the only way.

I need to prograhm the key fob and also get the keypad code for the keyless entry

To program the fob; close all doors, unlock with door switch, turn key from off to on (without starting car) 8 times, ending in the on pos, the locks should lock and unlock then press the lock button on the fob, turn the key back. That should do it, if you get nothing, replace the battery in the fob. The keypad code is only retrievable through a scan tool. The dealer will charge a half hour to do that even though it takes less than 5 mins.

Need unlock code

SOME SLIM CHANCE IF U BOUGHT THE CAR USED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER WROTE IT IN THE OWNERS MANUEL BY THE RADIO CHAPTER OF THE BOOK OR ON THE 1ST OR LAST PAGES OF IT (LOOK FOR ABOUT 5 TO 6 NUMBERS), IF THAT DIDNT WORK THEN GO TO YOUR LOCAL FORD DEALER WITH YOUR TITLE/REG (PROOF THAT U OWN THE CAR) THEY WILL LOOK IT UP BY THE V.I.N. # OF YOUR CAR. SOMETIMES THEY WANT TO CHARGE YOU

Locked both sets of keys in my car

I have heard rumors that there is a number on the frame underneath the passenger side of the vehicle. Supposedly the last four digits are the unlock code. I will research and post further. You can take the VIN number to a Ford dealer and they can cut you a new key for a nominal fee.
