First check for external leaks. Did you change the air filter?. Then check the oxygen censer should be around.5 volts, check if the brakes are binding. check the valve timing it may have jumped a tooth. check the ignition timing and make sure the computer advances the timing as the engine speeds up.

Why does my 04 caravan drink a lot of gas?

Your fuel sending unit in tank is bad,may be incorparated with fuel pump or by itself.Car isn't going to drink gas that fast unless leaking. If tank reads a half, fill up to see if it's really half empty, and if it is half full, then your driving a gas hog.

Car has been sitting in garage for past 10 years, on blocks. what do you recommend before trying to start? it needs new battery.

you need drain fuel tank.fuel tank probably need to be removed and cleaned out to remove all sediment in bottom of fuel tank.remove each sparks and label them.squirt some clean engine oil down the spark holes into cylinder bores to help lubricate cylinder walls and help seal the piston rings to build up compression.replace fuel filter.best to change spark plugs and wires.check all brake hoses they more likely old cracked. i would change brake fluid bleed out all the old brake fluid out of the brake system.also change power steering fluid and change transmission fluid and filter also change engine oil and oil filter.replace the antifreeze and all the coolant hoses and radiator hose.replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.replace battery and add new full tank of gas.you should be ready go. check ignition timing also.

How to fix bad fuel economy. I just got 37km to 1/4 tank. There is something wrong. What is it?

to test properly you have to fuel to full drive 100 km return where you filled up and check for example 100 km = $10 to 10 liters gas so the level of fuel has to be exact and the price of gas the same as well the liters of fuel used as well if you drive under 100km an hrs it helps as well in the winter running the car to warm up takes gas as well also the tire pressure all equal oil change to date spark plugs replaced air filter clean there are so many things to take into account so double check all to save more

What parts do I need for a 1999 chevy prizm for a tune up?

Depending on your mileage, there are different things to change. Being that you have a 99, I'd do the following: oil and oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, and rotate your tires. Take a look at your brake pads and replace them if needed. Make sure your tires are around 36 psi at all four corners. Top off your coolant if needed, as well as brake fluid if needed. A tip for you to help out with this - buy a can of a product called Seafoam, and add half the can to your oil. Drive the car about 75-100 miles, and then change the oil and filter. It'll break down sludge and deposits and help the oiling system work better. For preventative care, do this every 5th oil change. Pour the other half into the fuel tank to clean that system.
