Question about Cars & Trucks
I have tried using my other remote key but it behaves the same, only unlocking but not locking.
Without knowing make or model of car, hard to tell. Some cars, like Hondas, will not lock if one door is slightly ajar or at least the switch that is supposed to say the door is closed says it is open. Look on your dashboard and see if a door ajar light is lit when this happens. Back hatches are usually the culprit if the switches are good, because they don't have the same latching mechanism as a side door. You could have a failure in the electronic lock receiver or wiring and that might be detectable by the onboard computer. See someone with a professional computer code reader.

sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff

Remove the door panel and reconnect the plug going to the front driver door lock or, if you can hear the motor trying to engage the door lock cam when you press the lock/unlock remotereconnect the door lock lever bar
